We are a team of licensed counselors passionate about working with clients who are seeking mental wellness. We can support you as you combat anxiety and depression, explore your identity, wade through life transitions, or learn to build healthier relationships. We can help you discover the strengths that nourish your inner resilience - because we do believe experiences of trauma, oppression, and neglect shape you, but we also believe you have an incredible ability to heal. It is for this reason we adopted the blossoming cherry tree as a symbol of our work - it reminds us of the ways that being open to change builds resilience.

Not accepting new clients
I work with clients who struggle with finding life fulfillment by exploring their personal values, goals, and what they find meaningful. During this process I also help them with working on achieving their goals by identifying barriers, and exploring ways to navigate through life's challenges. Some of these barriers may be depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues, while other barriers may be external or a combination thereof. I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with grief and loss issues.

I have experience working with a wide range of patients from young children to older adults. I approach therapy from a patient-focused and strengths-based lens, believing that each individual has the capacity to overcome life's challenges when it comes to all areas of work, relationships, and family. Additionally, growing up in a Chinese (Fujianese) immigrant family in America, I understand the impact of generational trauma and cultural identity struggles that first generational individuals and people of color may deal with. I work with patients and within the community to mend and grow from these experiences.

Hello everyone, please welcome and allow me to first begin in thanking you. The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. Perhaps there has been times that you have found yourself feeling stressed, down, lacking confidence, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you. Perhaps you’re ready to take steps toward changes but feel stuck or unsure where to start. Or even feeling lost in your relationships in life or even disconnected from them.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
