Is your life spiraling out of control? Anxiety, lack of sleep, irritation, failure in relationships, history of trauma continuing to affect you. Does it seem that too much is not working out as planned? You have had enough; you want to own the direction of your life and address the issues keeping you off track,

Anxiety and sadness cause real pain that no pill alone can fix.
I am a motivational therapist. I teach what helped me to stop feeling preoccupied with pennies and getting occupied making millions. I will first understand you, where you are. Baseline. One of the best solutions to reduce depression (the past) and anxiety (the future) is to joyfully live in the present. The "broken records" of verbal and other addictions are not your friends. Joy and productivity are your friends, along with the friend who never offers you negative news. As we learn, changes must generalize from each meeting to other settings with helpful tools for your greatest life experiences.

I'm an integrative counselor and art therapist with a Jungian theoretical background with experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, who might have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma (verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse), anxiety, and depression.
Therapy for me is a process where we work together to find ways for you to feel comfortable in your own skin and live your life in the best way you can. We will work together to tailor your treatment utilizing evidence-based interventions, which can include art therapy, dream analysis, active imagination, guided imagery, word association, cognitive behavioral therapy, Internal Family System (IFS), and mindfulness among others. I also can provide therapy in Brazilian Portuguese.

While my primary treatment areas include miscarriage, pregnancy loss, grief and infertility, I also frequently work with people suffering from general anxiety and depression.
Coming to therapy can be terrifying. I strive to create a warm office environment that feels relaxed and safe. The relationship between therapist and client must first feel comfortable so we can build trust and respect for one another. I approach each client as a unique individual and try to find holistic solutions for problems. Let's work together to figure out a plan that works for your life and your family.

Hi, I’m Abigail. As a clinician, it is my joy and purpose to help others better understand themselves and their experiences in order to live a more full and contented life. It is a wonderful gift to bear witness to the journey of others as they navigate the often-difficult waters of life’s ebb and flow. I incorporate my mindfulness training into the therapeutic process, creating solutions and effective techniques in addressing a wide range of challenges. I speak Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
