I am passionate about working with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, life changes/transitions, trauma, and relationship challenges/issues. I enjoy working with college students and mental health issues unique to men. I am client-centered and utilize various techniques, but the part of therapy I find most important is the therapeutic relationship we create.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with trauma, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and urges, borderline personality disorder, and anxiety.
As a Master’s level clinician I strive to help clients improve their lives and learn new skills, techniques, ways of viewing themselves, and the world around them in a way that may reduce pain and suffering. I frequently use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to help empower and guide individuals in their healing journey. I believe we are all capable of finding relief, strength, and a new way of perceiving ourselves and our environment, despite the difficult and unique challenges we face.

I specialize in trauma, but I also have experience helping individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
Seeking counseling does not imply that something is wrong with you but that you are just trying to improve upon the strengths that you already possess. From the moment you walk in, I want you to feel that you are in a safe place. My best clients have said that I am warm, friendly, and not at all what they expected a therapist to be. As your therapist, I will take the time to get to know you, meet you where you are on your journey, and walk alongside you. Together we will figure out how you can become the best you.

I offer a person centered approach, empowering you to be vulnerable and strong through your pain, challenges and fears.
Therapy is not one size fits all. Therapy should be catered to your individual needs, concerns, and goals. I will walk beside you on your journey, assisting you over the bumps and cracks along the road. We can start wherever you are in your healing and self discovery, as there is no pressure to talk about things that you do not want to. I often hear that others are concerned about starting over, retelling their stories. Well, that is not the case here. You are in control of your story and I am here to listen, clarify and help you write the next chapters you deserve. This is not easy life work and you do not have to do it alone.

I've been in private practice since 2019 focusing on pregnancy/postpartum issues and working with teens/adults with depression, anxiety, and trauma therapy; CBT used often.
A few daytime openings are available! It's so hard on our bodies and minds to be pregnant, give birth or endure loss yet we're expected to carry on with our lives like usual. People that haven't experienced the physical complications and distressing symptoms can't relate. Talking about our "stuff" is uncomfortable because we often feel shame or guilt as we think we should be grateful or we're not feeling good enough. Pregnancy and postpartum is unlike any other journey; sharing our bodies with another human is hard, being a new mom is hard, loss/change is hard! Remember, you are not alone and with help you can be well.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
