Through mindfulness and evidence-based practice I treat trauma, anxiety, depression, and problems of living.
Choosing to engage in therapy, in a way, means choosing yourself. It is not always easy to believe we can feel better, or even just feel different. Sometimes it’s not easy to accept how we feel is perfectly normal and okay. You’ve learned so much on your journey, I hope to help you see how much you already have and help you on your journey forward, even if that feels really messy or impossible at times. I strive to provide a confidential and accepting space where you can explore how you got here and figure out where you want to go.

Ever since I was an adolescent, I knew that one of my life purposes & passion was to do something in the psychological realm. Making a positive impact in someone's life & helping them flourish into their best self is one of the most rewarding feelings. My own life path has been filled with challenges that I had to overcome from a young age & on my path of self healing, I realized that the therapeutic world was missing so much of what I needed & only a rare few "understood me." That is when I made the promise to myself to give to others what I witnessed was missing & to be open to sharing my own insight, education and research.

Hi, I'm Cinthya! Here’s a few things I believe that I emphasize with my clients. 1. Perfectionism doesn’t exist. 2. You are stronger and more resilient than you think, AND give yourself credit for. 3. No one has lived your life for you. No one else really knows your life. Only you know your truth. 4. Everyone is capable of attaining their goals and finding that peace in their life they deserve. 5. It takes a lot of courage to admit we even need help sometimes, let alone take the steps to find it. 6. Change begins with awareness. 7. There are many ways to see the same thing, so challenge your perspective.

My clients understand that change takes work and commitment to personal growth. Together, we create a personalized roadmap to achieve goals, so that clients can move forward feeling empowered by the positive changes they've made. Sometimes that means examining what has happened in the past that led to current events, and using a strengths-based approach to navigate a path forward. My approach is trauma-informed and inclusive of all genders, sexualities, ages, spiritualities, and ethnicities. I consider myself a guide on your personal journey and will strive to meet you where you are on your path to whole wellness.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
