I embrace all walks of life, and view each story as valid and important. In no way do I have a specific mold I follow, or a mold I want a client to fit in. My process is fluid and dynamic, and it is critical that I have a collaborative relationship with each person I work with.

I can help clients when they are at a difficult moment dealing with complex life transitions and experiencing grief, anxiety, stress, and anger. I prefer to help clients with existential methods that invoke depth orientated psychological approaches from Jung, Gestalt, and stoicism. Clients that are able to receive homework assignments for mindfulness and reflect on the challenges they are having will be the best equipped to look at introspection and navigate their mood disturbances with assistance in the therapeutic relationship.

My practice focuses on working with people struggling with issues concerning anger management, impulsivity, chronic shame, divorce, relationships, anxiety, depression, overwhelmingness, identity, and sexuality.
Isolation is the killer. For many, influences to pivot away from isolation and towards healing, connection, and growth are complex, challenging, and hopeful. My clients are invited to explore their “painful wounds” and discover how their pain’s influence leads to self-identity issues, certain behaviors, relationship constraints, and patterns that decrease movement toward growth. Growth towards living with a whole heart of emotions, less ambiguity, finding increased purpose, and engaged relationships. Growth towards self-compassion and employing in their lives what they value most.

Barriers I work with include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship issues and anger problems.
Oftentimes we seek out therapy because components in our lives are causing us significant distress and disrupt our ability to function effectively and feel happiness. I ask clients who come into therapy to bring with them an open attitude, a willingness to explore their life perspectives and their relationships with others, that they may experience true change and healing. This journey towards emotional maturity often involves a certain amount of discomfort and pain before the healing and change can occur. I provide a warm, trusting, safe space to assist people so that they may continue that journey.

I love working with people and believe everyone is multi-layered. Whatever parts of your story you are bringing to the table to have witnessed or to seek change in, the journey toward healing requires courage. Whatever it is you are seeking counselling for, many of the hurts we carry in our lived stories need far more room to breath and to be than we are given in our daily lives. My specialties are working with anger, grief, identity struggles, and relationship issues, yet I am well seasoned in working with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem and can offer companionship through many interpersonal hardships.

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless, while knowing that a better life is possible? If you have experienced trauma or struggle with anxiety and depression, you might feel trapped in a cycle of negative thinking, painful emotions, and failing relationships. Burdens of shame, anger or sadness can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and others. Closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be can feel impossible. No matter how hard things seem, we can help you find the inner strength to heal, grow, and become the person you were always meant to be.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
