I am committed to helping individuals facing adversity find peace and reach their therapeutic goals within their unique contexts. My work focuses on providing accessible counseling services that draw from various therapeutic modalities, with a special interest in working with neurodiverse individuals and the queer community. I believe in helping clients navigate their emotional and psychological challenges in a client-centered and validating manner, regardless of their background. I see myself as a guide, not a teacher, recognizing that clients are the experts in their own lived experiences.

My goal is to empower you in finding your own strengths and developing additional tools that allow you to experience fullfillment and success in your life that you are looking for. As a psychotherapist, I work with clients facing mental health, emotional, and quality of life challenges. I have a strong foundation in cognitive behavioral therapy, but also apply psycholanalytical for its strengths with your individualized needs. Depression, anxiety, serious mental illness, behavioral, coping, relational and personal growth are common areas, but not the only areas focused on.

We treat children, adolescents and adults with behavioral issues, mood disorders, developmental and personality disorders. I work with parents to develop behavioral plans for their homes and families to supplement the therapy done with their children/adolescents in my office.

Susan W. Ratliff LPC Susan is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Athens University in Behavioral Science, and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from A&M University. Susan has been in practice in North Alabama for the past 25 years, with experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She has served a variety of populations, and has led individual, group, marital, and family therapy sessions. She currently works with children, adolescents and adults in therapy. Susan’s main passion in work is to improve individuals, and families lives by assisting in their development.

It's a brave and powerful step to work towards prioritizing one's mental health. As a therapist, I honor the commitment to begin one's healing process. My role includes providing therapy through the use of different methods such as trauma- focused cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing.
