As a Clinician, I prefer a warm and inviting counseling style. I believe that each client should be met where he or she is currently, and supported to where they are trying to go. My approach to psychotherapy combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I believe that each client will benefit from an eclectic therapeutic approach which is tailored to the intricacies of their life and psychological makeup.

As both a therapist and a person, I understand that life sometimes serves up hard-to-categorize problems that can be overwhelming. I'm very familiar with issues like depression, anxiety, and addiction, and my training and certification in EMDR allows me to be especially effective with trauma resolution and attachment repair. My career started on a hospital behavioral health inpatient unit, which has allowed me to become comfortable with some pretty intense situations, but my background is varied and I work well with all ages. Therapy with me is relaxed yet focused - and I promise not to ask you how that makes you feel.

Many people were taught early on that emotions and feelings should not be outwardly discussed or displayed; others become aware of the stigma surrounding mental health issues as they mature. This can lead to a fear of being labeled as mentally ill, which often serves as an obstacle to seeking therapy. Unhealthy thought patterns surrounding mental health have led to ongoing, systemic problems that create a lack of public awareness and prioritization of mental health issues. However, change can occur on the individual level once a person makes the courageous decision to seek out counseling, which can provide them with a fresh start.

I truly believe everyone should have access to counseling no matter where you are. However, coming from a rural town in Alabama with limited resources, I have realized that many people suffer in silence due to fear of the stigma associated with traditional counseling or simply because there are not any counselors available within driving distance. Brandon Adair is a licensed professional counselor who earned his master’s in clinical psychology from Alabama A&M University in Normal, AL. He has over twenty years in the inpatient / counseling field with his key focuses being in the areas of marriage and family counseling, addiction, anxiety, depression, daily stressors, PTSD, developing coping strategies, and men’s issues. Brandon’s therapy approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, solution focused, motivational interviewing, and positive psychology. We are an Alabama group practice with LMFTs, LPCs, and interns. We exclusively see clients using secure Telehealth therapy for your convenience, and do not have a physical location. Licensed therapists (Cindy, Sam, and Alicia) take BCBS of Alabama insurance. Interns see clients at a $25 rate per session. Cindy is a certified Sex Therapist, and Alicia is licensed to supervise MFT-I's, MFT-As and MFT-Is. Alicia is an EMDRIA approved EMDR trained therapist.
