I’ve been working in this field for over 17 years and have a lot of experience helping kids, adults, and teens with Autism, addiction, and mood disorders.
I help people with neurodivergence, including ADHD and Autism, as well as their families. I also help people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, substance abuse, and behavioral addictions. As a parent myself, and a person with ADHD, I know how tough it can be to find the right support.

Life is about transition and transformation, from the time we enter the world, and with every transition comes increased exposure to greater life stressors. These stressors may result in sleep disturbance, anxiety, depression, PTSD, impaired relationships, anger or addiction. Through therapy, we will explore the origin of those symptoms, identify positive coping techniques, establish healthy boundaries and implement change, allowing for personal growth and improved self-efficacy. Hope and healing begins today, with just one phone call.

Some of the concerns I have addressed with clients include self-harm, history of trauma and abuse, marital and family conflict, depression and suicidal thought, addiction and anxiety.
There are days when the fear feels so big that there is no room in your chest for breath. Some mornings, it seems like sleeping forever would be much easier than getting out of bed. It may seem like a herculean task to get through the day, or you may simply know that life can be better than it is. You wonder if you are worthy of happiness. Perhaps you think that your friends and family are tired of listening to your struggles or that support groups have not provided the help you need. You may feel the need for additional insight or for significant support in dealing with personal demons.

I'm licensed in Michigan and Florida as a social worker, I'm a certified substance abuse counselor and hypnotherapist.
The great poet Rumi wrote "out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." This quote really encompasses a therapeutic setting for me. A place where there is no judgement and you are heard with warmth and high regard. In my sessions you can be expect to be treated with kindness, empathy and be received with no judgement. This is my private practice, which means, you will not have a therapist turnover in a few months. I’m very personable and real. I will care about you.

Through life you may feel as though you are in a constant fight with yourself. Where the history of your battles have not been won, but only suppressed. Overtime they are unknowingly disarmed and you find yourself walking across an unknown terrain that triggers you to fall apart. With this comes the ability to pick up your broken pieces and put them all back together healthily. What is great about being human is the ability to learn and grow.

In my 20 years practicing in the healing profession, I have gained tremendous experience working with people who have felt limited by, or did not respond well to, traditional talk therapy. When we are dealing with emotional triggers, we often get so dysregulated that we can't think clearly or behave how we truly want. I specialize in breaking out of rinse and repeat patterns without having to rehash your life story or relive painful memories. One of the main reasons people avoid therapy is they can feel worse after digging things up, so I intend that each client is grounded and confident that they have tools when leaving a session.

I believe that the most important component of therapy is the genuine connection that is formed between a client and their therapist. This connection forms the foundation for emotional growth and is the most important factor in achieving our goals in therapy. I have an innate ability to genuinely connect with people and provide them with unconditional positive acceptance and support. My therapeutic approach is a mix between the symptom-solving aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness based strategies.

I know from my own experiences as well as a career dedicated to helping children, adults, and families, that often putting yourself first and asking for some help can bring up feelings of guilt, shame, and fear to name a few. Understanding and knowing that you are your own self with needs, wants and worth; that you deserve to heal, remember who you are and find more joy- these concepts are available to you. You matter, your story matters and I can offer a safe space for you to be your vulnerable and authentic self.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
