As a Marine Corps spouse of 23 years, I was afforded the amazing opportunity to gain professional knowledge and skills in both military and civilian populations in the continental U.S. and abroad. I’ve had the honor of working in a variety of mental and behavioral health settings to include private therapy practices, psychiatric programs, substance abuse clinics, and educational programs. These experiences equipped me with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide clients with a unique therapeutic experience supported by evidenced-based interventions.

When I was younger, I thought it was just me that felt the vulnerable feelings of sadness, loneliness, disconnect, etc. As I grew up, I began to observe these and other forms of hurt in others as my empathy, my motivator, expanded. My name is Hilary Kohs, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been a mental health therapist since 2003. I received my Bachelor’s in Science degree for Psychology in 1997 from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois. I received my Master’s degree in Social Work in 2003 from University of Illinois in Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. I have been working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years helping clients ages 6-96 with issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting issues, anger management, bi-polar disorder, and a variety of other mental health issues.

I have been been a licensed practicing Clinical Psychologist since 2007. I have a vast amount of experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and thought disorders. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I understand the importance of a strong therapeutic rapport and conduct treatment in a warm, compassionate, supportive, and professional manner utilizing CBT and DBT techniques to address my clients’ needs.

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional, and Certified Forensic Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist. I have over 25 years of experience working with a broad range of emotional and mental problems with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families.
