Are you having the same arguments with your partner over and over again? Do you want to learn strategies to better manage conflict and build trust within your relationships? When you feel heard and supported by your partner, conflict becomes easier to navigate. Maybe you are feeling stuck or hopeless about your future and don't know where to begin. Finding meaning and purpose in life is often an unrecognized unmet need and traveling that journey with a therapist can provide greater life satisfaction.

We are all working to be the best version of ourselves, that is at the core of what centers myself and the focus in therapy. I strive to encourage clients to help them overcome obstacles in their lives while helping them develop lasting coping skills to do so. Having spent time as an Academic Advisor and working in the Nonprofit world, my strengths are to assist in creating an environment of empowerment. In addition to my work, it has been a privilege to watch my family grow over the years. I wear the “Girl Dad” badge with pride. I work with individuals who are working to navigate ADHD, anxiety, depression and personality disorders.

Life can be messy and confusing; I like to think of these struggles as a part of being human. Counseling creates an outlet to explore these hurdles and gain a new perspective to these experiences. Often when these stressful and hindering experiences happen, we think less of ourselves and change our sense of self-worth. I believe that thoughts, emotions, experiences, and behaviors are all intertwined into our lives. I take pride in encouraging my clients to be uniquely and authentically themselves as they navigate the waves of life.

I have learned both personally and professionally, that by understanding our relationship patterns, and recognizing our part in the challenges we face, we can find greater self-awareness, emotional flexibility and better manage stress and anxiety as we thoughtfully grow in life. I apply a systems lens to help clients strengthen their sense of self and live into their personal values and strengths.

My ideal client is someone who feels emotionally overwhelmed or stuck in patterns they don't fully understand, often shaped by past trauma or stress. They may be trying to overcome past events. They may struggle with intense emotions, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and impulsive behaviors. Feelings of overwhelm or want to shut down. They want tools to heal trauma, manage emotions, cope with stress, and navigate relationships more effectively. They want to build more awareness to understand themselves more. Ultimately, they want to build a life that is worth living, meaningful, and enjoyable.

You may feel weighed down by past experiences that still show up in your daily life through anxiety, triggers, relationship struggles, or a constant sense of being on edge. You’re tired of just “coping” and want real relief. I work with individuals ready to gently process trauma and move forward using EMDR in a supportive, grounded way. My hope is to help you feel calmer, more confident, and no longer controlled by what happened to you.

I’m passionate about helping children and families find hope and healing through life’s challenges. I work with kids and parents who are navigating trauma, behavioral struggles, or big emotional transitions. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable space where children can feel seen and understood, and where parents feel supported and confident in strengthening their connection at home. As a Christian, I love being able to integrate a biblical perspective with clients who are open to it and are seeking that kind of help. However, I am equipped with many tools to help all kinds of clients.

I won't ask you to do something that I would not be willing to do myself. If I'm asking you to learn a new coping skill like breathing exercises to calm your body, I'll practice these with you rather than sitting and staring at you while you practice in session. I also feel that healthy boundaries are important for both of us. There may be days that you need someone to walk alongside you, to cheer you on, or someone to help untangle all the thoughts; but, I cannot carry you. Therapy is hard work, but the long-term results can be amazing! I will always be open and honest with you; trust is key to heal and progressing in therapy!

It takes a lot of courage to decide to seek help with something that is bothering you or that is a struggle within your life. I find it to be an honor to work alongside my clients in their own journey of healing. Therapy is different for every single person, and an element I have found important, is to operate as a team together with trust and rapport. As a therapist, I am client centered with a focus on building a safe and trusting relationship with my clients, aiding in the ability to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences. I provide alternative views, and often times will encourage continued work outside of session.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
