I have 23 years of experience working with trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety and narcissistic abuse. Using IFS inspired somatic experiencing, as well as relationship coaching for couples which changes lives. Using strategies from the Gottman institute as well as non violent communication and a full certification by LSCI . ( Life space crisis intervention) in NYC. I am available to explain the differences between talk therapy and somatic approaches and why some somatic approaches may be a better adaptation for trauma. Freedom is one phone call away.

If you are searching for a therapeutic alliance and advocate with access to cutting edge therapies, I believe that I am uniquely positioned to assist at Costal Care Counseling! After approximately fifteen years of field work with individuals, children and families that suffer from traumatic consequences of addiction and behavioral related problems, I have come to believe these afflictions must be tackled biologically, psychologically, spiritually and socially for long-term success.

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to review my profile as your potential therapist/partner in creating healing and happiness in your life. My approach is rooted in the belief that we all deserve to be heard and all deserve to live our best lives. I believe that we are able to improve our emotional and mental well-being by exploring our past while focusing on our present and future. When we are able to integrate all of the pieces of our lives, and observe and tweak how all of those different pieces interact with each other, then we are better able to make necessary adjustments for a more healthful way of living.

I obtained my MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. In 2018, I relocated from Maryland to the Tampa Bay area where I have worked in residential treatment, outpatient therapy, neuropsychology and now in private practice. From my experience, I understand how mental health issues can seem complicated. This is because there are so many factors that can contribute to mental health issues. That is why I take a creative therapeutic approach that uses evidence-based techniques uniquely suited just for you.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
