Alexander Gumbs, FNP/PMHNP-BC is a dual board-certified practitioner in psychiatry and family medicine. Mr. Gumbs uses an integrative holistic approach to treat the bodies and minds of his patients. He is proficient in treating those across the lifespan (children, adolescents, adults, and seniors). Community focus is his passion. He has experience treating disadvantaged populations, such as the homeless and those in the criminal justice system transitioning back to civilian life. Dr. Albin is a Board Certified in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist. He completed his residency and fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, and currently provides evaluation and management of mental health issues with psychotherapy and medication management in private practice.

Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology: Accurate diagnosis is paramount in psychiatry, and this requires adequate time, in order to develop rapport and understanding. For treatment, I apply the various tools of psychodynamic-expressive-psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and, when medically indicated, I may recommend, carefully prescribe, and monitor psychotropic (or psychoactive) medication (psychopharmacology/pharmacotherapy), across all diagnostic categories.

Dr. Javaid iftikhar is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, a graduate of Hunter-Bellevue school of nursing and has been in clinical practice since 2014. He has worked in various clinical settings including hospitals, clinics, in home visits and has expertise in treating persons of all age groups with psychotherapy and/or medications. Has someone suggested that you may need to take medication for what you're experiencing? Scary thought for most people. I'm a Nurse Practitioner with advanced training in therapy and medication management of all mood disorders. I strongly believe that total remission of your symptoms is possible. Research has shown that therapy in addition to medications for those who need them works best. Medication is prescribed as a last resort. I don't take prescribing medication lightly and do not believe in a one pill cure-all. There are many options we can explore.
