Ideally my patient is as invested in their care as I am. They could have a variety of diagnoses but the thing they have in common is they are willing to give the process time, are open to new ideas, and know there is no magic pill to fix all their problems. My patients want to get to the best version of themselves and are willing to try therapy as well as medications to help them reach that goal. My patient wants an empathetic, listening provider who can guide their care based on the evidence, but tailored to their individual needs.

Making the decision to pursue psychiatric treatment requires courage and motivation. As your psychiatrist, I honor your willingness to be vulnerable with me by being transparent with you throughout our work together. My clinical approach balances directness with empathy, shared expectation with flexibility, and professionalism with humor and warmth. I provide psychiatric evaluations, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and medication management to adolescents and adults. I am passionate about caring for LGBTQIA+ people, and I have been researching and teaching about queer issues in health care for the past ten years.

Therapy can be a wonderful way for patients to understand themselves, relationships, and patterns of interacting in a deeper way to effect positive change in their lives. At times, medication is needed in conjunction with therapy to address acuity of symptoms and augment progress. We also provide medication evaluation and treatment.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and have been practicing since 2005. I completed my residency from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and my Fellowship in Addictions from the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation. In 2014, I was featured in SJ Magazine as one of New Jersey’s top psychiatrists. I have experience working with adults as well as adolescents suffering from both psychiatric diagnosis and substance use disorders and have extensive experience working in both out-patient and in-patient settings.

Erica Sorrentino is a Psychiatrist in Massachusetts who has been practicing since 2023. She offers compassionate psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults.

I have an active faculty appointment at both Harvard University and Tufts University.

They are motivated to work collaboratively with a therapist to achieve their mental health goals, and are excited to begin their journey towards growth and healing.

Throughout childhood and adulthood, we sometimes encounter challenges that are not easy to overcome. These challenges often time come from developmental crisis, life stressors, behavioral patterns or disease. We deal with conflicting feelings and thoughts that are in our way to develop at our full potential, build meaningful relationships and succeed academically and professionally.
