How do we learn to understand and trust what our feelings are saying to us? What makes it possible to change entrenched ways of coping that are not working? My focus in therapy is to help patients deepen their personal relationships and find their work more rewarding; medication can sometimes help alleviate symptoms that interfere with achieving these goals. Dr. Toppelberg is an experienced, Harvard-trained child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, usually working with ages 3-30. He evaluates and treats emotional/ behavioral difficulties including ADHD, depression, trauma, stress, anxiety, and selective mutism, and those preventing weight loss. He has focused on issues of performance at work, study and competitive sports. He regularly works with tour-level tennis players and other professional and student athletes. He is an expert in neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as learning and language disabilities. He runs psychiatric services at an excellent school for children/adolescents with autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities, the prestigious New England Center for Children.

Dr. Bijoy Mathew is a knowledgeable clinician who is committed to creating a successful and therapeutic relationship by building trust with his patients. He is caring and compassionate, and seeks to collaborate to deliver the best individualized care. He earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He did his psychiatric training at Columbia University Medical Center where he completed his residency in General Adult Psychiatry and his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Deanna treats children, adolescents, young adults, and families with complex psychiatric, behavioral, and psychosocial challenges. As a nurse practitioner, she has worked in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and school settings. Deanna specializes in therapies and medication management targeting anxiety disorders, ADHD, and executive function deficits. This expertise extends to evidence-based treatment for a range of conditions, including depression, mood disorders, eating disorders, and trauma-related disorders, among others.

I’m a psychiatrist double boarded in Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I have over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from ages 5 through 65. My undergraduate training was at Harvard University, my medical school training was at Boston University, my 4 year Adult Psychiatry Residency was at Walter Reed, and my 2 year Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship was at Duke University, where I was Chief Fellow. I worked at Duke University and Womack Army Medical Center as an Adult Psychiatrist, then as a Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist for the past 20 years.
