I specialize in pediatric psychiatric medication management for individuals aged 5 to 17 years old. My passion is to guide children and young people in achieving their optimal quality of life, while successfully accomplishing socio-emotional developmental milestones.

I am a dual board certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. I received my Bachelor of Science Nursing from The University of Oklahoma in 2006. I have worked in several acute mental care units and critical care units prior to pursuing graduate studies. I received my Master of Science in Nursing in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner from University of Cincinnati in 2019 and Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) from Saginaw Valley State University in 2021.

Julia McVay, MSN, PMHNP-BC is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with training and experience treating patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. She has 8 years of nursing experience and her education includes a Master of Science in Nursing with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specialization. Julia takes great pride in providing exceptional care to all patients.

My perfect client is driven and prepared to put in the effort. They possess an open-minded and flexible attitude, along with the ability to adapt to new situations. They are introspective, contemplative, and possess a genuine curiosity about themselves. Effective communication, honesty, and trustworthiness are also important qualities they possess. Dr. Soni elected to work in private practice after witnessing first-hand the dire need for high quality, timely, and accessible, psychiatry services in his community. His treatment philosophy is somewhat unique, in that, Dr. Soni places his primary emphasis on improving his patients overall quality of life. This philosophy allows for treatment that is patient specific or Patient Centered. The Patient Centered Treatment model is evidence based and includes medications when warranted in addition to behavioral and social interventions that are also tailored to the person, and not a one size fits all approach.

We work with clients with a wide range of concerns and ages, combining traditional pharmaceutical management with integrative medicine. We coordinate care with their therapist to ensure a well rounded approach to treatment. We use both in person and telehealth visits for established patients. All new patient assessments are in person.

I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and Bipolar disorders primarily as well as many other miscellaneous concerns. I believe in treating the whole person in order to achieve mental wellbeing and improve daily functioning. I am also used to working in close collaboration with therapists (where applicable) as part of a managed care team. We are looking to integrate intranasal Ketamine therapy (Spravato) in the year 2024 for people who have a deep depression that they just cannot shake.
