I am a dual Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse practitioner with ample experience working in health care. I have a special interest in the overlap of mental and physical health. Becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner is my fourth career. I am a medical doctor from another country and after being re-inserted into the United States health system as a registered nurse and, subsequently, a family nurse practitioner, I had the opportunity to take care of and treat several people with mental health needs.

Total Family Health Care Center (TFHCC) is a Community Mental Health Center that provides Psychiatric Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Medical Services for patients across the life span-children to geriatrics. We have offices in several locations and its a multidisciplinary behavioral healthcare group organized to meet the comprehensive mental health needs of our community and the surrounding South Florida area. Services includes psychiatric evaluations, medication, individual, group, couple, marriage and family therapies, substance abuse, and mental health counseling for adults and children.

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice licensed to practice in the state of Florida. As a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner, I take a holistic and individualized approach to every client. This approach stems from the understanding that mental health can affect multiple areas of one's life. I treat every client with individualized care and evidence-based interventions. I utilize medication in conjunction with therapy to improve patient outcomes.

As a person, social coherence is our order of the day. With it brings a lot of challenges that affect every one of us. This is the calling that drew me to psychiatry, where I can navigate how to help individuals and families cope with their daily issues. As a professional with both psychiatric and clinical knowledge (Psychiatric Board-Certified Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Master of Science in Nursing- FNP), I understand the mental strains in our lives. The good news is that I have specialized in depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder which I am happy to help with the healing journey for both individuals and families.

Dr. Homer's practice utilizes a combination of medication management and weekly or bi-weekly psychotherapy to improve emotional health in all stages of life. Treatment goals include: enhanced mental and physical well-being, cognitive improvement, better relationships, positive accomplishments, resilience, mindfulness, increased meaning, increased positive emotions , optimism, mastery of "flow", and coping with adversity and loss.

I started my nursing career in 2006 and have over 16 years of diverse nursing experience. I earn my patients’ trust by delivering quality and passionate care. The importance of helping a person heal, not only physically but emotionally, presented itself, and I moved on to pursue my graduate degree at Walden University to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

I graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in Chemistry and Behavioral Neuroscience. I completed my medical school training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and my psychiatry residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. I am experienced in treating a variety of psychiatric disorders in adults of all ages, as well as young adults, having spent time treating students in the SUNY college system.
