I work with adults, couples, adolescents and families, on a broad range of topics including relationship difficulties, stress management, depression, anxiety, childhood challenges, school related issues, anger management, marital and pre-martial issues, co-parenting, divorce, domestic violence, and bereavement.
Sometimes we become overwhelmed with life's many challenges and can't seem to get things right. Stress can overtake our lives and leave us feeling bog down, thus feeling stagnant or repeating the same negative patterns. Together I can help you achieve a personal sense of well being through counseling. My therapeutic approach is an interactive goal oriented approach using cognitive behavior therapy. Our thoughts, emotions and behaviors essentially create our lives! They can create within us tremendous sadness or overwhelming joy.

My clients want to work with me to achieve their goals and resolve any conflict they are experiencing in their life. I enjoy working with clients experiencing depression and anxiety, OCD, addictive behaviors, eating disorders (specialize), difficult life experiences, trauma, ASD, medically compromised family issues, chronic mental health issues. I truly enjoy helping my clients with grief and loss so that they can move on from grief while holding onto their loved ones/or things. I like family involvement or family work because I look at barriers as a family of origin issue and a family goal, not just the “identified patient”.

In addition, I provide mediation and conflict resolution services for groups, and support to those suffering the effects of loss, trauma, grief, and bereavement.
My work with clients begins with the premise that every human being is born with infinite potential, regardless of history, circumstances or origins. My goal is to invite clients on a journey of awareness, self-discovery, and hope. Under the blueprint of a Cognitive Behavioral approach, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy, I become a journeying companion and a co-creator of a vision of a future that is better than the present with clients, by challenging imbedded notions that may have become faulty beliefs and assumptions. I believe in people and in the unlimited potential that resides in all as designed by the divine creator.

Healing can happen with the courage to understand one’s own life story. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey toward prioritizing emotional well-being, promoting healthier behaviors and routines, and fostering self-compassion. This journey often includes examining the dynamic challenges that impact our relationships. As each person presents with a unique set of strengths and challenges, I strive to personalize treatment to meet your personal goals, build upon your strengths, and help you feel in control of your life. Most importantly, I prioritize doing this work in a warm & supportive environment.

Grief Support Groups

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
