DBT Skills Training teaches Mindfulness (learning to live in the moment), Interpersonal Effectiveness (asserting, managing anger), Distress Tolerance (coping with crisis), and Emotion Regulation (being less mood dependent). More like a class than a support group, you'll learn strategies. Initially, DBT was designed to help people with suicidal feelings. Now, research suggests DBT is also effective in treating depression, substance use, anxiety, and bing eating. For more on DBT, please visit Will Lippincott's New York Times article, "No Longer Wanting to Die." The DBT group will begin in June, 2018. Dr. Taitz, the group leader, is a Linehan board certified therapist.
