Does your anxiety show up more than the Amazon delivery truck? Do your thoughts feel like a tornado you can't escape? Well so did mine, and I hated it, so I spent the last 6 years finding a way to turn negative feelings (like anxiety) into positive ones (like happiness). I studied dozens of systems, did A LOT of my own healing, and had over 1000 sessions with clients to refine a system that could create calmness, happiness, anc confidence on command! Here's what I've learned:

Welcoming new clients! Like the transition from fall to winter, we all go through seasons that threaten our livelihood and shake us from thriving to dormancy. This often leaves us questioning our meaning and purpose. Your experience may be a devastating loss, lack of energy, motivation, and enjoyment in activities and people that once brought you joy or physical and psychological restlessness. It is difficult in such states to understand how flourishing is possible. However, there is hope! Just as winter gives way to spring showers and new life springs forth to flourishing, neither is your situation hopeless; you can thrive again.

It is important that everyone - no matter where they are in their journey - is provided a safe space to be heard, where their personal goals can be accomplished. Together, we are a team. My work in addictions treatment has taught me that a key to overcoming life's difficulties is support and connection - I would love to help bring support into your world. You don't have to do it alone. My priority is that you leave feeling understood as you are, in what ever uniqueness that brings. I am trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and anti-oppressive and aim to support you in the goals you value.

How many times have you caught yourself thinking, “Seriously, what is going on with my life?” Maybe you’re feeling the weight of juggling work, strained relationships, and the constant pressure to keep it all together—while barely managing to stay afloat. If you’re a parent, you might be determined to do better for your kids, but sometimes, it feels like the old cycles are creeping back in. It's exhausting and can feel like nothing really sticks, no matter what you try. I don’t believe in quick fixes or easy answers—because, let’s be real, they don’t work in the long run!

Namaste! I provide individual, relationship and marriage counselling, in a nonjudgmental, relaxed environment. Over the last 35 years I have worked with individuals and couples guiding, teaching and helping them by using an eclectic approach, and a variety of different types of modalities depending on the particular needs of my clients. I also provide family mediation and relationship counselling for couples who have split. I am a sex therapist, working with all couples and individuals. I specialize in many areas, as I believe all issues are connected, so to treat problems in isolation is unrealistic and can be short lived.

Strength-Based Counsellors

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
