I have experience supporting folks through grief and loss, addiction, gender transition, relationship issues, and vicarious trauma.
In your sessions, we will explore what you bring with curiosity and openness. Whether you are struggling in your relationships, experiencing loss or a big life change, or feeling overwhelmed and stressed, together we can explore what's happening, consider what makes sense for you, and make space to hold the feelings that are surfacing. Life is full of situations that can be difficult to navigate alone. Together, we can create a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand who you are and how you want to be in the world so that you can live a more connected and fulfilled life.

My training and clinical background running inpatient and outpatient hospital and community-based anxiety programmes, cancer survivor, caregiver, and bereavement programmes inform the work I do with my clients.
I appreciate that asking for help and sharing lived experiences are whole-hearted actions. It is a privilege for me to provide individual therapy to adolescents and adults during times of great distress, change, and loss. Clients often describe a loss of meaning and purpose in their lives, overcome by confusing and messy emotions that sabotage their functioning. Some clients are acutely aware of their compromised quality of life whereas others would describe chronic life conditions. My areas of specialization include anxiety, psychological trauma, depression, grief and bereavement, terminal illness, and chronic illness.

We enter psychotherapy for a wide variety of reasons: The death or loss of a loved one, illness, job loss, divorce, addiction, etc., but all of us seek help because we are trying to find a better way to deal with the reality we are facing. My job as a psychotherapist is to help you talk about your emotions and reactions in a safe environment, figure out where these emotions and reactions are coming from, observe whether your reactions produce the desired outcomes and, discover new ways to react, if that would produce more desirable outcomes

Since 2006, I have been supporting people in traversing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, isolation, life transition, discrimination, racism, and systemic oppression.
Sometimes , the journey of life can be a rough one. You feel lost, defeated, alone, and full of fear. But you haven’t given up. There’s a part of you that tells you that somehow there’s still hope, that you just need a helping hand.

Depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, unresolved grief, work-related problems, phobias, and stress are among the most common symptoms that I address. Of particular interest to me (and my specialized training) is to go beyond only treating the presenting symptoms and to discover and address what has caused them to occur. Both in my work experience and in my training I have learned that symptoms typically diminish using various forms of psychotherapy. However, unless the underlying causes are understood and resolved the gains are not usually sustained. Over time symptoms tend to reemerge.

In our lives we may find ourselves feeling “stuck” sometimes. Overwhelming feelings can become a barrier in our personal and professional growth. These difficulties may include distressing thoughts, anxiety, depression, grief, loss of a loved one, low self-esteem, unsatisfying relationships, fear of abandonment, ideas of perfectionism and hyper-criticality towards yourself. The work we do in therapy will be aimed at observing and reflecting on the challenges you are experiencing. We shall work towards removing the roadblocks that stand in the way of your growth and move you toward a sense of fulfillment and well-being.

I believe in people’s resiliency and that each of us is capable of growth, and reaching new goals and possibilities. I am a registered social worker, psychotherapist, and my approach is one of calm, non-judgmental and strength-based collaboration. Drawing on resources such as narrative, emotion and cognitive behavioural therapies and psychodynamic concepts, I work with people who are experiencing pain in their lives, and together we explore and address the issues affecting their sense of well-being. Accepting new clients! I help teenagers and adults manage anxiety stemming from life transitions, work-life balance, and trauma. Anxiety and past experiences should not define one's value or future, and we can make active changes to overcome these challenges. Many complain about how exhausting anxiety can be - but we don't have to resign to living like this forever. The way I see it, the goal of therapy is to both get to know yourself and your anxiety, but also to take back control to minimize its impact on relationships and academic or professional development.

What do I really want? and--how am I going about NOT getting it? These simple questions stand at the gateway of personal freedom. Overwork, addiction, anxiety, depression tell us that we have turned away from life's important questions. Therapy can help. More than just relieving symptoms, good therapy allows us--with time and courage--to see our problems as opportunities, and to discover what's really important--living life with a sense of freedom and possibility.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
