I approach the therapeutic process from a stance of resolving long-term behavioural, cognitive and relational patterns, that negatively present functioning and wellbeing. Clients will be interested in and committed to identifying and exploring underlying causes of current distress.

I empower parents to compassionately show up for themselves so they can wholeheartedly enjoy parenthood. Often we encounter challenges when parenting our children and feel overwhelmed, stressed or burnt out. Being a parent is hard work. I can help you nurture your emotional well-being during this transformative journey. Parenting can unravel us and reveal childhood wounds and opportunities for self-growth. If you are experiencing moments where you are shut down, anxious or angry - I can help you understand what is going on and identify healthy ways of coping.

We all struggle at certain times, looking after ourselves can mean reaching out for support. As a counsellor, I help people feel better within themselves and improve their mental health and well being. Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, like you are no longer yourself? Life's challenges often feel like a lot to deal with, leaving you exhausted, burnt out and low in self esteem. Imagine if there was a way through these challenges, a way to manage your anxiety, deal with overwhelm and work towards your ideal way of feeling. I would love to chat with you about what is going on and how we can start a shift.

Not accepting new clients
I love working with people who are ready to dive deep. I find the best work happens when people are ready to reflect and take some risks, opening themselves to new experiences and possibilities. People are ready to try new approaches to old problems in a non clinical environment. They want to feel freer to be themselves, gain clarity and have closer more satisfying relationships with loved ones. Often I work with students of psychology/counselling/play therapy/art therapy who are interested in doing their own wok before becoming therapists. I also work a lot with couples and individuals in life transitions, especially parenthood.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
