Mental Health IOP Program Description
Our mental health IOP provides treatment for people suffering from moderate to severe levels of depression and anxiety that are interfering with their daily functioning, such as work performance, relationships, health, etc. Many of our patients are feeling helpless, hopeless and have thoughts of suicide. To treat severe depression and anxiety, the mental health components of the IOP consist of three primary areas targeted to: Coping with Emotions and Relationships, Coping Skills Training, and Physical Symptoms
Evidence-based treatment
Not all mental health treatments are equally effective; some therapies may work better for some people, with some disorders, than others. Mental health professionals use different treatment strategies to help people who experiencing mental health problems. Some treatments have research support in the scientific literature and other treatments have less or even no research base supporting them. Therapists who use treatment approaches based on the scientific literature rely on evidence-based practice. When the term evidence-based practice is used, it typically means that the specific treatment has been closely studied, has shown to be an effective treatment, in repeated studies, and typically involves the use of treatment manuals. Treatment effectiveness, on the other hand, refers to how effectively treatment works in the real world. Treatments with scientific evidence supporting them are referred to as evidence-based treatments. Some examples of widely used evidence-based treatments are: cognitive therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, problem solving therapy, rational emotive therapy, prolonged exposure, and motivational enhancement therapy.
