I do this by utilizing a non-judgemental approach in addition to narrative, somatic work, and experiential practices to hold space for clients.
There is nothing wrong with you. Right now you are doing the best you can with what is available to you socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. My practice centers the belief that we are inherently good and trying our best. But, circumstances and our environment aren't always conducive for living our best life. If you are feeling disempowered, disconnected, burnt out, unmotivated and generally disillusioned by the world: I am here for you.

I work with clients ready to do the work of connecting with the self in the present moment. As a certified mindfulness instructor and a mindfulness practitioner, I bring mindful presence to the therapeutic process. Using somatic, integrative, intuitive and mindful self-compassion principles, I hold space for my clients to understand their inner wisdom and knowing. Clients who are willing to cultivate awareness and recognize their patterns, conditioning and reactivity based on their childhood and environment will benefit greatly from our therapeutic relationship.

You are magnificent. Your experiences are valid. And, your experience in the world may be painful. I’m here for you, your stories, feelings, and somatic experiences. These are deserving of a space to be expressed. A core principle I strive to embody in my practice is consent and accountability when walking alongside you on your own journey to your most authentic self.

Do feelings of worry or fear prevent you from doing the things you want to do? Is the thought of having to deal with "that" person enough to send you crawling back to bed? Do you find yourself wanting to enjoy life but instead are left feeling stuck? You are not alone. Whether it be anxiety, self-esteem concerns, interpersonal conflicts, or life transitions, therapy can help. My goal is to help you address the things that are holding you back from being your truest self and living the life you dream of.

In a non judge-mental and safe atmosphere, I have been proudly serving my community for over seventeen years. Confidentiality and trust is key within my private practice. I work with individuals, couples and families to achieve greater satisfaction within their lives. Understanding, acquiring and maintaining change is a major focus. Anxiety, stress, and depression are only a few issues that disturb our mental well being. While trying to be in a productive relationship, one may lose harmony. This can affect all involved, including the family unit. Appropriate communication and coping skills is another important part of my work.

Are you looking for a better approach toward life, your relationships, your career, life's transitions, your family? Our journey in life causes us to reflect on our experiences, which develop, define, and teach us, not only about ourselves but the lives of those around us and the world itself. Life often has a way of teaching us what we have either longed for, what we need to learn, or what we can learn, to help us work through difficult times, in order to allow ourselves the ability to love ourselves. It’s through these experiences/ times that we become stronger, to allow ourselves to heal to become the best version of ourselves.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
