Hi! I'm Dr. April Watkins but most of my clients refer to me as April. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives....whatever that looks like for them. Many individuals I see struggle with some form of anxiety or depression but how this presents is so different for each person. I focus on providing evidence based treatment but tailor it to the individual and their own experiences and needs. My experience has shown me that people do not fit neatly into a "category" and clients' perception of their progress is most important.
My training and experience allows me to work with a variety of client concerns to the adult population. Common areas of focus include anxiety, depression, work stress, substance use and I have specialized training in working with older adults, particularly in evaluating for presence of cognitive impairment and educating families around this issue.
I currently work in a small private practice. Our building is actually a house converted into office space, which creates a more homey and less clinical feel. Reaching out for help is often scary.
