I work with high-functioning children and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, self-harm, OCD, and social anxiety. I have specialized training in dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and expressive art therapy to effectively regulate emotions, reduce problematic behavior, and enhance interpersonal effectiveness skills. Born in Bronx New York, I graduated Columbia University in 1989 with an MS in Social Work and became a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist helping individuals and couples thrive. I also use DBT and ACT to create a Psychodynamic Counseling approach. When children and teens are in crisis, so are their families? Is homework time stressful? Is your child unhappy? Does he/she not have friends? Is the teacher complaining that he/she is not paying attention to the lessons? Are you concerned your child's grades need to improve in order for he/she to be promoted to the next grade level? I help children learn ways to calm themselves so they can better pay attention. Through playing games which may involve math or reading, they begin to feel a sense of success and find learning can be fun.
