I specialize in treating young children (ages 2-12) and their families with a combination of play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I see children and families with a variety of problems, including: anxiety, behavioral problems, ADHD, learning disabilities, separation and divorce, grief and loss, abuse, and other childhood traumas. I offer an engaging, empathic and encouraging relationship within which children and their families are able to develop solutions to individual, family and school stresses and emerge with a greater sense of efficacy and self worth. I offer both individual and family therapy as well as frequent parent consultations.
My experiences as a preschool and kindergarten teacher and day care center director enriches my approach. During sessions I allow children to lead the play while I offer clear structure and limits, providing a safe, nurturing environment in which they can explore and conquer their problems.
Parents generally thank me for helping them gain greater control over their children while finding ways to enjoy them more. Children usually thank me for listening to their ideas and feelings and letting them play with my toys.
