Some approaches I use are Motivational Interviewing, Exposure therapy, CBT and DBT.
As we go through various life transitions, sometimes we feel burdensome to our friends and family. You may feel like the people you love don’t understand you. You may even feel like a stranger to yourself. I am here to provide you a safe space to process those feelings and help you through this period of change. We can learn who this new you is whether you are a new parent, divorcee, empty nester, dealing with grief or loss of a loved one, dealing with a new diagnosis or illness, working on your relationship or marriage, starting school or a new career, or just getting older and learning to cope.

I am intensively trained in DBT and and specialize in treating emotion dysregulation, complex trauma and dissociation, mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, and relationship difficulties.
Do you feel you are riding an emotional rollercoaster? Alternatively, do you feel like you are living in auto-pilot, going through the motions in life without finding much satisfaction? Or maybe you are experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulty coping with past traumas, relationship or work difficulties, or are just feeling stuck. Although we may find ourselves surrounded by supportive family and friends, we may still feel alone and isolated in our distress. Pain in life may be unavoidable, but you don’t need to go through it alone.

I infuse cognitive-behavioral elements from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness to increase clients' skills to cope with life.
Are you a parent noticing your child struggling at home, school, or with friends? Do you have a suspicion that your child might be on the autism spectrum or perhaps in the grip of a cycle of anxiety or anger? Does your child spend too much time online and not enough time connecting with others and the world around them? Perhaps you are not seeking support for a child, but instead for yourself. Many adults struggle with these very issues. All of these things can lead to a great amount of stress for children, adults, and their loved ones. I'm glad you're here and I'm here to help.

I utilize a trauma-informed and holistic approach to psychotherapy by incorporating various mind-body interventions including: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is an integral part to the healing journey. I work hard at creating trust and safety with those that I work with by providing an honest, authentic, and nonjudgmental presence. It is my goal to accept whatever a person may bring to therapy while also seeing the possibility of change. I work with adults to help them navigate challenges along their journey to parenthood.  I help them cope with the emotional and mental load of trying to conceive; manage feelings of grief, loss, anxiety, and depression; to heal from trauma; adjust to motherhood; and so much more.

No one said life was easy, but you didn’t realize it would be this hard. As a young woman, navigating the transition to adulthood is fraught with unique challenges and obstacles. You lay in bed at night, trying to sleep, endlessly ruminating about your future. It feels like every choice you make will have massive effects on the rest of your life. Relationships are strained and unfulfilling. Your career has become tedious and overwhelming. Your living situation is precarious. And the weight of it all is slowly crushing you. You know there must be a better way to live, but it feels impossible. You’re out of ideas and ready to give up.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
