I went into the field of psychology because I love helping people transform to the best version of themselves. We all need a safe place to understand ourselves and how we relate to others/self. Now accepting online clients! I am a board certified telemental health counselor providing online counseling for residents of Missouri. I currently offer online sessions for individuals, couples, and families. I have worked for several large community mental health agencies, a local college counseling center, provided psychotherapy for the University system and numerous co-occurring substance facilities. It is through these experiences that I continue to be passionate about helping all clients improve their lives, relationships and their mental health.

The clients I serve are often at a crossroads in their life story and unsure of how to close one chapter and begin anew. Clients I enjoy working with recognize that counseling continues outside of the session in self reflection, exploring behavior change, and shifting how we think and relate to ourselves. I find that counseling helps meet goals and needs as diverse as the client, and sometimes goals arise throughout the course of the relationship. No one needs a "good reason" to come to counseling, for the desire to reach out and try will always be sufficient.

My background as a consultant and trainer includes work with residential facilities, hospitals, schools, the Department of Defense, and organizations throughout north America and 11 countries. I have authored/coauthored 15 books and am a Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling at Maryville University and Sr. Clinical Advisor at Youth In Need, Inc.

Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
