I use a trauma-trained, attachment-based, relational approach in my work with individuals 18+ who want to learn more about themselves and create a life that feels in line with who they are and what they want.
Life can be incredibly hard at times. We can't control or change what has happened to us, what we needed but didn't get, or how isolating and confusing things can be. Sometimes we don't understand why we feel the way we do, how people interact with us, our reactions, or what to do next. Maybe we don't feel much at all. We don't have to keep repeating the same patterns or relating to ourselves and others in the same ways, even though that might feel impossible right now. I know reflecting on our behaviors, thought patterns, and life experiences can be incredibly difficult, and I’m here to support you through that process.

I went into the field of psychology because I love helping people transform to the best version of themselves. We all need a safe place to understand ourselves and how we relate to others/self. I often say "We need to be Mindful of our Total-Well Being and that our minds and our bodies are an inter-connected systems. Where the mind goes, so does the man or woman in their actions and body states. We go to the physician for our physical health, so how much healthier would we be if we went to our psychologist for our mental health?" At heart, I am a holistic practitioner and love seeing my clients Thrive.

Hi there, I am here to help you. I work with individuals, couples, and families with struggles ranging from current life issues, relationship struggles, and issues that have been a lifelong battle. Clients often come to me because they have hit the lowest point and have never felt more alone, even after trying therapy countless times before. Many clients have left counseling finding resolution and a drive to live their life to the fullest. My clients have expressed finding healing, feeling equipped to manage life, and having healthier relationships and connections with others that they previously thought weren't possible.

I approach treatment through an attachment-based, trauma-informed, psychodynamic lens and collaborative framework, recognizing that you are the expert of your life experience.
We are wired to repeat deeply learned patterns that, at a certain point, no longer serve us. Whether it’s in your personal relationships, or your relationship with yourself, at times you may find yourself feeling stuck in a repetitive loop, with outcomes that feel undesirable or out of your control. Together we can identify and explore these patterns in order to define your goals and work towards meaningful growth.

I use a systems and developmental approach that integrates attachment-based, mindfulness and somatic practices.
Welcome! Do you feel overwhelmed, dismissed, or undervalued? Are you looking for more meaningful connection? Persistent exposure to stress can show up in our bodies, our work ethic, our social interactions, sleep habits and so much more. What happens to us early in life influences our ability to cope with the stress and setbacks that life can throw at us. Whether it's a chronic health issue, recent or past trauma, grief, or relationship conflict, you don't have to experience it alone. I have an integrative and person-centered approach that uses the therapeutic relationship to rebuild connection to yourself, others and the world.

I believe people are more than their diagnosis. Yes, a diagnosis is a tool but it is not the big picture. I come from a place of curiosity and wonder, wanting to know my clients on a deeper level so that I can help them navigate this world. For example, PTSD is a big diagnosis that is thrown around; yet, it doesn't paint the full picture. It doesn't reflect someone's experiences, triggers, how this is impacting their relationships, family history, the strengths they possess etc. Adolescents are my passion however, I also enjoy and work closely with families and adults.

I bring an attachment-based and Emotionally Focused background into our work together.
Seeking counseling is a huge first step and I am already proud of you for looking for the right therapeutic fit! When we have experienced childhood neglect and abuse, sexual trauma, or a life filled with uncertainty and instability, it may manifest into unhealthy behaviors and relationships in adulthood. Maybe you are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, emotion dysregulation, low self-esteem, or unhealthy coping behaviors. If so, we may be a great fit! Additionally, I work with those who have experienced betrayal trauma, DNA trauma, divorce, and spiritual/religious abuse.

I offer Christian Counseling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma focused therapy, and more.
I am passionate about helping adolescents and adults find healing and personal growth. As someone who entered my first counseling session in 2012, I understand the anxiety and fear of putting yourself out there to begin working with a therapist on issues that are personal and unique to you. I strive to help all of my clients feel safe, comfortable, and always offer a judgement free zone. That being said, I may not always say what you want to hear. I may offer a gentle push or assist you in recognizing some behavioral patterns that are holding you back. We all have them! I'm excited to walk next to you on your journey for growth!

I have worked at inpatient and outpatient levels of care and use several different attachment-based approaches and trauma-focused modalities.
Living in a broken world naturally means we may often feel broken ourselves, detached from who we genuinely are, who we once were, and who we long to be. It is easy to lose connection with our true selves as we attempt to navigate our external relationships, past traumas, societal expectations, and the daily demands of this world. This disconnection can disrupt our sense of equilibrium and wholeness and can bring on feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, and a general dissatisfaction with life.

I also work with survivors of emotional/narcissistic abuse; clients with ADHD; and those with relational/attachment trauma through abuse and neglect in their family of origin. Another area I serve is supporting individuals who are in their faith deconstruction journey or have experienced spiritual abuse. My clients are of all faith backgrounds but for those who are seeking it, I also offer Christian counseling.

I draw from experience in treating clients at both residential and outpatient levels of care using Attachment-based & Somatic Trauma approaches, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), IFS informed, drama therapy, and other expressive-based interventions.
We can all resonate with feelings of disconnection - from ourselves, from people around us, from our purpose, from hope & peace. I believe that each individual has the ability to close the gap of disconnection and live a life characterized by healthy connection and emotional stability. My job is to show you how to access the necessary tools to do so, equip you to use them, and encourage you towards growth and healing. Therapy can feel intimidating, so I strive to offer a safe, secure, and compassionate space to meet you where you are at and allow you to move forward.

Many people experience injuries in life that do not subside with the passage of time. The residue of these injuries can result in depression, intrusive thoughts and desperate ways of coping. We can fall into patterns of being that feel too hard to change. All of this then interferes with connection to others and intimacy. One does not have to live this way. It can be different.

Are you standing in the face of uncertainty in your life or career and confused as to how to move forward? Does performance paralysis settle in when considering a risk? Do you lack confidence and avoid social situations? Having lived through Hurricane Katrina, resulting in an abrupt relocation to St. Louis in 2008 (after forty years in Louisiana), I can relate to starting over, the absence of family, and the need for grounding. The Covid pandemic was a reminder of how quickly life can change and the necessity for resources. Cumulative traumatic grief is evident in its aftermath as is the need for trauma specialist care in healing.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
