My name is Violet Ashu, I am an experienced PMHNP-BC with a strong background specializing in psychiatric-mental health care behavioral issues across the lifespan. I have practiced in a variety of settings as an independent member of the health care team, collaborating with other health professionals to provide mental health care services. I have acquired advanced health assessment skills to perform screening history, diagnosis, and treatment which includes prescription of psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and referral when indicated for primary medical care or other specialties.

I am a board certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner who treats clients of all ages. I have nearly 30 years of experience in nursing which allows me to consider mind-body factors which contribute to mental health and physical disorders. I treat most disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, and psychosis. I work with the client to develop an integrative treatment plan, using medications, naturopathic supplements as well as CBT, mindfulness and DBT methods to help clients achieve the highest level of wellness.

She received her training in Adult Psychiatry at State University of New York, Upstate University Hospital at Syracuse, NY where she went on to complete her fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She worked in the capacity of Attending Physician, Psychiatry at Syracuse Veterans Hospital before moving to Houston.
