Dr. Zelimir Vukasin is an adult psychiatrist. He completed his psychiatric residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He also completed an internal medicine residency at New York Hospital, Medical Center of Queens. Dr. Vukasin received his medical degree from the University of Zagreb medical school in Croatia. He has practiced in various setting over his career including inpatient psychiatry, long term care, private practice, and non-profit outpatient psychiatric programs. He has more than 31 years of experience providing patients with compassionate psychiatric care through medication management.

I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained at New York University. I offer a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy and alternative treatments to improve mental health. I have a diverse background in working with clients from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and I am well-versed in utilizing a range of therapeutic modalities. I have experience working with individuals who are struggling with a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, ADHD, and insomnia.

We are a privately owned medical center that offers both psychotherapy and psychophramacology to the community. We provide individual, family and group counseling services in a professional and comfortable environment. James Dusenbury, offers medication assessment and management. HE is licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in New York State. Additionally, he holds a National Board Certification in Psychiatry from the ANCC. James has over 15 years of experience in psychiatry and started his own private practice, Different Approach Therapy, inc. . He has worked in both clinical and administrative roles at Bellevue and Mount Sinai Hospitals, and Jacobi Medical Center. James has also worked in the psychiatric emergency room at Coney Island Hospital.

I am a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who specializes in different forms of psychotherapy--cognitive behavioral (CBT), metacognitive (MCT), interpersonal (IPT), psychodynamic, and supportive therapy--in addition to pharmacology to augment psychotherapy only when the need arises. I enjoy a diverse, multicultural client base and speak several languages.

I got my medical training in Argentina, my home country. After graduating in 1995, I moved to the U.S. to complete my Residency at Einstein Medical Center and my Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson Medical College, both in Philadelphia. For the past seven years, I've worked as a full-time attending psychiatrist at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where I also supervised medical students as Assistant Professor. I'm now an analytic candidate at NYU's Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

As a physician and therapist, I believe that mental health is characterized by flexibility and fluidity of thought and intention. I take a balanced and gentle approach in my treatment style and am careful to gauge and work with each of my patients wherever each may be. I enjoy helping people work to live more authentically and vibrantly. I try to help my patients unlock underlying patterns that may perpetuate a sense of stagnation. While I readily offer the use of medications if and when they may be helpful, I have often found talk therapy to achieve enduring change.
