Dr. Somanath graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with honors, completing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. He subsequently worked as a software engineer at National Instruments in Austin, Texas, where he developed an interest in neuroscience, and eventually medicine after working with one of the company's clients.
Dr. Somanath completed residency at UCLA's Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, where he extensively trained at both UCLA and the West LA Veterans Affairs. He served as Chief Resident of the UCLA Outpatient Clinics during his final year of residency, and afterwards completed the Max Gray Mood Disorders Fellowship at UCLA's Semel Institute.
Dr. Somanath is excited to offer affordable, insurance-based care to patients, which was an important goal of his upon entering private practice.
