Welcome. My heartfelt intention is to hold a safe and supportive space for women to feel heard, healed and whole. Using mindbody principles of Gestalt Therapy, I offer a personalised, relational and embodied approach to supporting women who may be experiencing a disconnect from themselves, others or their environment - whether it be through symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, overwhelm, sexual assault or chronic health conditions. By healing past traumas, emotions and narratives that are impeding and impacting our lives in the present, the result is lasting change, internal safety and a coming home to oneself.

Through my therapeutic work I have realised that in order to heal and resolve our deep emotional wounds we must focus on the whole picture, our mind, body and our soul. If we want to create lasting transformation, we must switch off the autopilot, our habitual thoughts and behavioural patterns that have been working against us. We must be willing to take the first steps towards discovering who we truly are. Discovering our true authentic self and our worth, is the most empowering experience that we can achieve on our healing journey. In the words of E. Tolle, “You do not become good by trying to be good, but by finding the goodness

A heartfelt psychology practice for those who have felt themselves drowning beneath the expectations of the world (and the expectations of themselves); for those who can distract themselves from overthinking and unfulfilled dreams in the day, but in the quiet of the night, find themselves wondering if they will ever feel content. Psychology for us is less about a diagnosis and more about being able to show up exactly as you are. Tender Studio is a safe and peaceful space, focused on helping you slow down in order to find comfort, hope, and self-compassion in the complexities and messiness of life.

At Mind Connect Health, the aim is to holistically support individuals and their loved ones navigate through a range of complexities. A variety of factors lead us all to having a unique response to stress, and sometimes we need guidance managing our own responses to stress and to better resolve conflicts with others, or even to learn to better connect with those we care about.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience in the counselling field. I have specialised in marriage counselling, family therapy, anxiety and depression and teenage counselling. I have also had a lot of experience with issues arising within families in the Islamic community. I have chosen to focus on women’s mindfulness, specifically because Islam emphasises the value of a woman and the importance of them being treated with respect, not being taken advantage of due to the vulnerability. Islam also conveys the rights of women, supporting them in seeking counselling in a time of need..

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
