I support individuals with a wide range of issues including low mood, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, burnout, self-esteem and relationship issues. I really enjoy working with clients who are having challenges during life transitions - be it moving from school to full time work or study, moving into parenthood, getting into or out of romantic or social relationships, changing jobs or careers. I enjoy supporting clients who gain benefit and are interested in understanding how their history shapes their present, and who are looking to work together to change their future. I value collaboration, trust, and empathy in the therapy space.

My approach is holistic and integrated to calm the nervous system and release stress and anxiety.
Hello, I offer inclusive counselling for young people, adults, couples and families who are dealing with complex transitions, relationship challenges and identity changes, or struggling with loss, grief and unresolved trauma. With professional and lived experience among a range of diverse communities, I understand that adjusting to these events can be complicated, and even more distressing without the right kind of emotional support. It can lead us to question our journey and undermine our ability to move forward in our lives. Together we can explore whatever is happening for you in a culturally safe and trauma-informed way.

My approach caters to clients with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship disturbances, self-esteem issues, the impact of abuse, trauma, grief and loss, addiction, and other presenting problems.
The essence of my therapy is in building solid, safe relationships collaboratively with my clients, catering to the unique needs of each person in a non-judgmental way. Rather than tell someone what they need, I prefer a merging of minds to make meaningful and sustainable differences. Together we explore resources to overcome adversity and suffering whilst learning to accept and adapt to the complicated facets of life where required. My therapeutic approach is also rooted in a deep exploration of early life experiences, with a focus on understanding and facilitating the healing of trauma or patterned behaviour.

Hello! I’m Chaille (Shay). I’ve spent most of the last decade living and working overseas away from friends and family, this taught me that there is nothing better than having a person who is your home and who will support you no matter what. I am very analytic and straight forward, but I’m also endlessly compassionate. More than anything, I want you to feel comfortable and safe when working with me. As a counsellor, my focus is on increasing quality of life. I help clients process their experiences in an environment of respect, help them feel heard, safe and validated. I offer evidence-based counselling for individuals and couples

I have helped clients with anxiety, depression, gambling addiction, trauma, and OCD.
I am an engaging and non-judgemental counsellor with experience in helping clients build skills to cope with anxiety, depression, addiction, and more. I am particularly interested in working with people navigating non-traditional relationships (polyamory, open relationships, kink/fetish, etc.), as well as relationship and intimacy issues. I am experienced with non-monogamy and I am in my final year of studying a degree in psychosexual therapy to become a certified sex therapist. I have helped clients through teaching skills to handle their problems or by giving them space to vent.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
