Panicha McGuire LMFT, RPT

About

Panicha McGuire, LMFT, RPT, is a licensed therapist with expertise in addressing neurodiversity, queer issues, and the challenges associated with culture and diversity. Dr. McGuire's therapeutic journey began with her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from UC Irvine, which laid the foundation for her work as a Behavior Interventionist using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with autistic individuals. Acknowledging the limitations of ABA in fostering masking behaviors and its compliance-based foundations and recognizing the importance of systemic change, Dr. McGuire pursued her Master’s and Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Alliant International University. Her doctoral research focused on the experience of attachment dynamics in parents of autistic children, showcasing her commitment to understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by families in the neurodiverse community.

As a neurodivergent and neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapist, Dr. McGuire brings a unique perspective to her practice. Driven by a belief in the power of authentic and collaborative relationships, she incorporates humor, experiential exercises, and evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into her sessions. Additionally, Dr. McGuire is a Registered Play Therapist™, a credential earned through extensive supervised hours and training, granted by the United States Association for Play Therapy. Leveraging this specialized qualification, she adeptly incorporates elements from interests such as video games and geek fandoms into therapy sessions, adding a touch of fun and relatability to the therapeutic experience. This dynamic approach creates a unique and engaging space for clients to explore and express themselves. Her private practice, Living Lotus Therapy, is dedicated to helping children, teens, and young adults across California, Colorado, and Hawaii.
