Ken Druck Ph.D.

About

Ken Druck, Ph.D., is a recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Contribution to Psychology award for his groundbreaking work on healing after loss. He has inspired and guided clients, communities, readers, audiences, and the public for over 45 years. His books, including The Secrets Men Keep, How To Talk to Your Kids, Healing Your Life After the Loss of a Loved One, The Real Rules of Life, Courageous Aging, and Raising an Aging Parent, speak to many of the core issues in our lives and society.

Druck’s latest book, How We Go On: Self-Compassion, Courage, and Gratitude on the Path Forward, is about how we go on after a traumatic loss, unwelcome change, challenge, or crisis and whether we summon newfound courage, patience, strength and understanding. Druck’s programs on living courageously are based on his personal journey after the death of his daughter, Jenna, in 1996, and his work on the front lines and in the trenches after tragedies like 9/11 (Ken was the keynote speaker at the 22nd anniversary of 9/11 in New York), Sandy Hook, Columbine, Las Vegas, and, most recently, Israel.

Since graduating with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Fielding Institute, Druck has developed novel approaches to grief literacy (a term he coined), parenting, aging, family psychology and resilience. He has presented his work at distinguished universities like the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine and Harvard School of Public Health, and at the United Nations, California Women’s Conference, Young Presidents Organization, and at many Fortune 500 companies.
