I offer a space where you can meet yourself with kindness and curiosity. Many of us carry experiences of shame, self-judgement, grief, or a general sense of dissatisfaction. At the same time, there is often a deep longing to live a fulfilling and authentic life, and to experience meaningful connection with others.
In my practice, I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship challenges. Others come to counselling with a desire to better understand themselves and to grow into a fuller, more aligned version of who they are.
Whatever brings you here, you are welcome.

I typically work with children struggling with anxiety, grief, the impact of divorce, and emotional outbursts. Many are brought to me for frequent meltdowns, anger, withdrawal, sleep difficulties, school refusal, loss of confidence, or sudden changes in behaviour at home or in the classroom. I also support children whose relationship with their parent has become strained.
These are some of the more common reasons families seek support, but I work with a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. Parents come to me when they feel stuck and want clear, practical guidance to help their child cope better.

I've been a psychologist for 24 years, after a long business career. I'm committed to fostering a trusting relationship where individuals feel safe to open up and share their true selves. Together, we create a space where people discover inner qualities, strengths, and resilience, make sense of challenging situations and often painful pasts, and build a future where they maintain a strong sense of well-being. My experience shows that clients seek an open, honest, practical and future-focused therapist. I’m also a trained and experienced coach and can blend therapy and coaching.

As an experienced Counselling Psychologist, registered with the HPCSA, I believe that we are all vulnerable to emotional harm and that we all go through times when we need emotional support. This makes sense given the stress and challenge of everyday life and the complexity of our lives, relationships and transitions like marriage, relocation and retirement. Clients have often told me how much they have valued being deeply listened to during their therapy sessions, how feeling heard, seen understood and "felt" really mattered ... and how being compassionately supported towards positive change made all the difference in their lives.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
