The process of laying myself on this blank page seems daunting, but not nearly as daunting as entering into a therapeutic process. I am a clinical psychologist, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. I believe individuals are resilient, posses great strength, and a built to overcome adversity and its a great privilege to accompany individuals on their journey back to self or even a discovery of new, different parts of the self. It is through a authentic connection and relationships that one can safely navigate the challenges that life throws at them.

If you’ve clicked on my profile, you’re exactly where you need to be. I view the mind like the ocean, vast, ever-changing, and deeply influenced by what lies beneath the surface. Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, or individual feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or shaped by past experiences, counselling can be a space to gently explore, understand, and reconnect with yourself. You’re not here by accident and you don’t have to navigate this alone.

My person-centred approach is supplemented with techniques drawn from narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma and somatic therapies, strengths-based and positive psychology.
I work primarily with women who are experiencing stress and overwhelm, anxiety, challenging relationships, abuse, divorce and those wanting to heal from recent or past trauma. By providing a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space, I help my clients express their inner turmoil, gain insight and self-understanding, explore options and identify personal goals. My aim is to support each client's unique journey towards healing and recovery. At the heart of my work is the understanding that most people deeply desire to be seen, heard, understood, and supported—so they can step into their own empowerment and growth.

Often we get stuck thinking that we have to 'do' life alone, we need to be strong and have it all together. Through the hardest moments in my life, I have grown the most and also learnt that we are stronger together- the happiest and most successful people have many circles of support around them. I offer you a safe space in order to explore life challenges and transitions in a grounded and supported way. Challenges may include things such as exams, changing jobs, changing houses, losing a loved one, getting married, getting divorced and low self-esteem.

My integrative approach draws on theories such as CBT, solution-focused, and family-systems to support children, teens, and adults with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, transitions, trauma, relationship challenges etc
I help my clients to feel more empowered, more connected, and more at peace. Even when they’re unsure or hesitant, I meet them there with warmth, curiosity, and respect. My role is to walk alongside them, offering reflection and evidence-based support. Some of the people I work with come to therapy feeling anxious, depressed, burnt out, or low in self-worth. Others are working through major life transitions like divorce, loss, or changes in relationships. Some just feel "off" and want a safe space to unpack their thoughts. Many are looking to build resilience, gain clarity, and develop practical tools for coping with everyday life.

Individuals who are willing to explore their experiences and thoughts to optimally navigate life's challenges will benefit from counselling. Being able to identify what it is you want to change or improve is essential to feeling "better" and in control.

I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach, drawing on BWRT, CBT, hypnotherapy, and nervous-system regulation tools.
You may be self-aware and capable, but still feel trapped in anxiety, burnout, or repeating emotional patterns; therapy can help you shift what insight alone has not changed. I specialise in working with thoughtful, emotionally aware adults who understand their struggles yet still feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in relationship patterns. Together, we explore the deeper drivers behind these experiences and work to shift them so you can regain emotional balance, confidence, and a greater sense of calm and control in your life.

Everyone needs someone some of the time. School going children and adults all experience challenges throughout their life time. Trauma such as parents separating or are in the process of divorce, bereavement can be quite debilitating for children. Learning difficulties can make the school experience very challenging too. Children responses to trauma may result in enuresis or encopresis and other regressive behaviours. Adults struggling to come to terms with childhood trauma, bereavement, divorce, domestic violence and trauma, all of which can negatively affect functioning in daily life. Depression & anxiety often follow trauma.

I make use of CBT, Narrative, Trauma Focused, Person Centered, Strengths-Based and Play Therapy Models.
Are you suffering from feelings of low self-esteem, loneliness or anxiety? Feeling emotional for no reason, as if you just don't fit in, misunderstood or isolated? Do you feel tired and unable to keep up with your daily routine, challenged by incongruency regarding your sexual identity, relationship difficulties and/or adjusting to life changes? Would you like to talk to someone likeminded where you can feel free to speak your mind? These issues are usually catalysts to dysfunctional relationships, stress and feelings of helplessness. Speaking to a Therapist is the first step towards improving your mental health.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors
How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?
Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
