Counselling is my life purpose. Whilst working in Corporate Human Resources, I engaged many who had mental health challenges, felt misunderstood & lacked support in their environment. I have empathised, listened to & supported those who shared their concerns, dreams & challenges esp. when they did not exp. fulfillment at work. Helping clients to find their life purpose may reduce symptoms relating to mental health conditions & bring about change that will impact them, their families & communities. Other interests include: Supporting Individuals who are in Toxic Relationships, GBV, End of Life Process, Dementia, Dealing with Change.

Being human is hard. Perhaps you’re wrestling with grief after a loss, struggling to adapt to big life changes, or feeling the weight of anxiety, dread, sadness, or heartbreak. You might find yourself alone in a crowded room, uncertain of how to express your needs or maintain meaningful connections. You want relief from the relentless inner critic, clarity on the next step, and the confidence to ask for—and receive—support. Ultimately, you’re craving a sense of stability, self‑understanding, and the ability to navigate life’s twists and turns without feeling overwhelmed or isolated.

My work focusses on clients who are struggling with the effects of childhood abuse and trauma as well as the emotional effects related to narcissistic abuse, past or present. I provide a space for clients to feel safe and to allow them to loosen their defences they needed to protect themselves and to understand their inner world and change old repetitive and obstructive patterns of being and relating. My focus is in working with young and older adults. I also include expressive therapy approaches, where needed, as a means to access emotions and experiences that are difficult to verbalise.

I strive to help each client develop self-understanding and to make changes in their life. Change happens in life, but we are not always equipped with the tools to adapt to change. These change may have taken place in childhoods, adolescence or adulthood. It may have been a gradual or sudden change. I help my clients to adapt to their 'new normal' without judgement. “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning.

Hi. I have been in practice for 33 years and continue to be passionate about what I do. I work with high functioning adults using a form of Psychotherapy which I have developed called Therapeutic Coaching. I am interactive in my approach whilst having been trained as a Depth Psychologist. What this means is that I am trained to identify my clients' underlying issues, childhood traumas, depression, anxiety etc. but work in a very interactive way in dealing with these. I work with individuals as well as with couples and have a reputation for working successfully with challenging couples who are in crisis.

My practice focuses on adult individual therapy. I believe that human beings have an inherent need to connect with others. When these connections and ways in which we relate to others are challenged or compromised it can often lead to psychological pain. Psychological and emotional difficulties in turn may translate into mental health issues. Hence, the core of my therapeutic approach is to develop a therapeutic relationship with my clients where corrective experiences or new ways of relating can occur.

You do not have to wait until you are in crisis before you reach out to a counsellor. One thing in life that is certain is change and facing challenges. Just navigating normal life transitions can be stressful and overwhelming. We are made to be in relationship with one another and when you are going through a difficulty there can be such power and healing in being able to express to someone in confidence what you are experiencing on a physical, emotional, mental and social level. We all need that space where we feel safe, we are able to share in confidence and there is no judgment.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
