Other treatments include cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy ( DBT), person-centered therapy, logotherapy, and brief dynamic therapy..
My primary aim is to provide that one, unique space where you are able to fully be yourself, be seen for who you are, and have your true self understood, affirmed, and valued. I aim to provide an open, non-judgmental, warm, and empathic environment within which clients can feel safe while navigating their journey of self-exploration. I naturally tend towards a focus on clients' strengths rather than what they often see as “deficiencies” within themselves.

This specialized approach focuses on helping clients explore fundamental questions of human existence, purpose, choice and suffering with the aim of creating meaning by providing a holistic perspective that integrates various psychological theories & techniques (such as CBT, DBT & Gestalt).
I have always been interested in understanding why people think and feel the way they do and how this may inform their behavior. As a result, I aim to work with clients to gain understanding of themselves, by accompanying them in their therapeutic journey of self discovery where they can realize their choices as to discover meaning and purpose in their lives, even in the face of adversity.

Through integrative and person-centered approach, I use variety of techniques from psychodynamic, cognitive, dialectical behavioural and family systems to collaboratively work toward therapeutic goals that foster personal growth in a warm, individualised, and culturally sensitive environment.
“When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or “when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another” - Carl R. Rogers.

Although I integrate other approaches best suitable for the client’s needs, such as DBT, schema therapy, and attachments approaches.
The thought of starting therapy can be a scaring one. We often wonder about suitability and ask ourselves will the therapist and I get along, will he understand me, or will he judge me? All these are relevant and real questions that are born when looking for a therapist to connect with. I strongly believe that the relationship between a therapist and client is a very vulnerable and sacred kind of relationship, where the two travel together to explore and access vulnerable parts of the client.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
