Clients often arrive feeling overwhelmed or stuck while navigating stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, or major life transitions.
My work is trauma informed, which means your sense of safety, choice and dignity always comes first. Sessions are paced, respectful and purposeful. Focus on stabilisation and emotional regulation before deeper exploration, ensuring the process feels supportive rather than overwhelming. I integrate counselling, coaching and mediation skills where appropriate.

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with many years experience working with children, teenagers, adults and couples. I also have a great deal of experience working with families and groups. I have facilitated groups where drugs and/or alcohol addiction is a familial problem for many years. I have also worked with mood disorders such as Depression and Bipolar. My doctoral thesis was on the mediating effect of Art Therapy for the treatment of Trauma and Bereavement, as I believe in the benefits of working with many different modalities in psychotherapy.

I work with adults and couples, with a particular focus on the nervous system. Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns they can’t quite explain. Often, these experiences are not signs of weakness, but reflections of a nervous system that has been under strain for a long time.

The people I work with are often going through life’s messier moments- grief, relationship ups and downs, or big life transitions like moving, changing careers, becoming a parent, or starting over after a breakup.
If that sounds familiar, you’re probably not looking for someone to give you a to-do list or “fix” anything. I offer support that’s thoughtful, down-to-earth, and respectful. The goals? They’re yours to set. We’ll work together to explore what’s going on and find ways to help you reconnect with your own inner clarity and strength.

You are unique, with your own strengths and weaknesses. With the right perspective and tools, you can overcome great challenges. There is much to be gained by working through our challenges- a fuller, more authentic and abundant life. But admitting that you're facing troubles, that you need assistance or that you do not feel fulfilled is the first step. Reach out if you need a safe space & an empathetic ear to work through difficulties, and to discover the hope that lies beyond what you have experienced. "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in given circumstances"

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
