Hi! I'm Jamie! I believe that when we practice compassion, we can support the people around us. This means that, within the counselling space I will approach you with openness and understanding. This will allow for the exploration of your personal experiences and the creation of a non-judgmental environment, filled with acceptance and empathy. In this space you will always be acknowledged, and recognize that you deserve to be seen, heard and cared for within a safe space. I work from a systems approach- wherein various counseling techniques are utilized (specifically, the person-centered technique). I am also trained in ABA.

At times we may feel stuck or overwhelmed. We may know what is causing unease or pain, but often we struggle to understand the cause. A therapy relationship at these times, can bring better understanding and help you think in new ways about yourself, your relationships and your journey forward.

I offer counselling and therapeutic life coaching. Clients will come to me with a range of problems and often feel some confusion. In our work we will clarify the problem and see what is most challenging for you at the present time. We will discover where this confusion arises in the body and mind and be able to see what started it. Perhaps this has been triggered in the past: by an environment, people, a person, upbringing etc. The work we do is non-judgemental and my purpose is to help you find your way out of the confusion and suffering, so you can find success, purpose and meaning in your life. I will be with you all the way

Adults and students carrying unresolved emotional pain, persistent anxiety, or repeating patterns — often high-functioning on the outside, yet privately struggling. Anxiety, depression, phobias, eating difficulties, or behaviour patterns that won't shift — and a willingness to look deeper. Using Medical Hypnoanalysis and complementary approaches, I uncover root causes, not just symptoms. Direct, compassionate, and deeply personalised — the goal is genuine transformation.

Life, from time to time, can become a struggle for all of us, and often we feel the desire to reach out for some understanding or companionship. However, we still live in an age where seeking support or help is often regarded as a sign of weakness. I believe the complete opposite. To seek out help and support in your darkest hours in order to better understand yourself and overcome your difficulties is a sign of true bravery and courage. By reaching out, you take the first courageous step toward healing, growth, and reclaiming your inner strength.

Therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and make sense of experiences that feel overwhelming or hard to understand. I work psychodynamically and offering a safe, containing, and non-judgmental therapeutic space. My approach is grounded in curiosity about the inner world, unconscious patterns, and relational experiences that shape how clients understand themselves and engage with others. I also integrate mindfulness and meditation where appropriate to support emotional regulation and reflective capacity.

Change happens when we feel safe enough to set down the weight of expectations and look honestly at the parts of our lives that no longer fit. I work with individuals who are navigating the heavy terrain of grief, the exhaustion of burnout, or the complex layers of trauma and identity. In our sessions, I offer a grounded, collaborative space where curiosity replaces criticism. Whether we are untangling relationship patterns or navigating a life transition, my focus is on helping you find a sense of internal clarity and steadiness. Through our work, we'll move towards deeper self-understanding and values-driven actions.

Sleep or Insomnia Counsellors
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
