Because of my experience, I see most adolescents and adults presenting with challenging psychological disorders.
I'm a strengths-based clinician. Because of life's challenges, we sometimes neglect our personal strengths and focus on our deficits or weaknesses, resulting in a life devoid of meaning and purpose. In therapy, I collaborate with my clients to identify their unique strengths and challenge them to utilize these attributes both in their intra and interpersonal relationships. Our signature strengths can shift our thinking and behaviour from a mental health state of languish to a state of flourish and wellness.

My ideal client feels overwhelmed by persistent stress, anxiety, or past trauma, struggling to find clarity and peace. My ideal client is someone who has a need for therapy, but may find it difficult to talk about their issues. Words may seem limited to describe what they feel inside of themselves. Child clients sometimes don't know or understand the extent of their unhappiness, or are too young to know that they are mentally and emotionally affected by circumstances. My ideal client is someone who suffers from trauma and early childhood wounding, or presents an array of other clinical presentations, including depression, anxiety disorders and much more. Clients seek therapy because they have a desire to be healed and emotionally be in balance.

I offer counselling and therapeutic life coaching. Clients will come to me with a range of problems and often feel some confusion. In our work we will clarify the problem and see what is most challenging for you at the present time. We will discover where this confusion arises in the body and mind and be able to see what started it. Perhaps this has been triggered in the past: by an environment, people, a person, upbringing etc. The work we do is non-judgemental and my purpose is to help you find your way out of the confusion and suffering, so you can find success, purpose and meaning in your life. I will be with you all the way

I enjoy working with adults and also with adolescents, accompanying them on their journey towards finding themselves as young adults who are able to function independently and who derive a sense of meaning and purpose from their lives.
My work is mostly informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy. I also make use of mindfulness and I have a growing interest in working with trauma using somatic focused techniques. My areas of interest include addiction, eating disorders, treating deep seated trauma, and couple counselling.

My ideal client would be someone genuinely invested in personal growth and open to the process of self-discovery. They may come to therapy grappling with complex life challenges or mental health issues—perhaps experiencing persistent anxiety, depression, or struggling with identity and purpose. This client might be facing major life transitions, such as career decisions, relationship changes, or the pressures of academic and professional demands, and they want support in navigating these changes in a way that aligns with their values.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
