The systemic approach sees us in the context of our relationships.
I have worked with people for 25 years. Depending on the person my approach would vary. For some more clearly defined problems a short-term practical approach is suitable. I support the client to deal with his or her difficult situation and to find solutions which will work best in that particular setting. For more complex issues which have persisted over a long time it is necessary to explore and address the underlying issues in order to achieve long-term improvement. Therapy should provide a safe and professional space from where to start a journey with the aim to find more balance and greater enjoyment and meaning in life again.

Whether it is stress, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or trauma, you can bounce back by taking the first step and choosing to look for the better things life can offer you.
Your journey can sometimes become heavy but you do not have to walk it alone. This is a safe space for you to express yourself and rediscover the strength you already have. Counselling does not always have to be hard or scary, it can also be fun and enlightening. Every life story is worth hearing and every heart is worth healing. Your own well-being should be valued and it is crucial that we prioritise our mental health.

I identify as a young, black, female and psychologist; these many identities have helped me to understand how one's intersecting identities can affect one's work, friendship and relationship dynamics.
I have specialist training in diagnostic assessment, intervention and psychotherapy. I thus use evidence based methods to ensure that each individuals therapeutic goal is achieved. I use an eclectic approach in psychotherapy, this means that each therapy process is tailored according to the needs of an individual/couple/ family.

Therapy and Life Coaching. Life is full of both practical and emotional challenges. If you are finding that insight alone is not moving you forward, you may need to focus more on Life Coaching and behavior change. If you need deeper insight into why you are stuck or why you do or feel certain things, you will need to lean more into Therapy for deeper work. Most often we need a combination of both at different times for progress and lasting change.

Life presents each one of us with many challenges & some very daunting circumstances at times. It may seem that you are in a maze, surrounded with several doors out. You have tried this door & that door, but to no avail. Sometimes you may just need another key as the keys you hold just would not turn the lock.

As a Specialist Counsellor and Life Coach, I support individuals and couples facing anxiety, relationship challenges, ADHD, and general life stress with practical strategies and genuine care.
My ideal client is someone who has never had an easy start in life. They’ve faced challenge after challenge and often feel like life has dealt them an unfair hand. This has left them with a negative mindset at times, expecting things to always be tough. And yet — there is a part of them that refuses to give up. Despite the obstacles, they keep moving forward, even when it’s hard. Their goal is to shift their mindset, to see situations differently and to believe in the possibility of change. They know that cultivating a more positive outlook is the foundation for greater resilience, success, and a life that finally feels lighter.

My approach is grounded in curiosity about the inner world, unconscious patterns, and relational experiences that shape how clients understand themselves and engage with others.
My speciality lies in helping adults, students and adolescents understand the deeper emotional and relational patterns that underlie their difficulties. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I work collaboratively with clients to explore how past experiences, internal conflicts, and ways of relating may be shaping their present emotional state.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
What types of relationship issues can therapists help with?
Therapists who specialise in relationships work with individuals, couples, and families on a wide range of issues. Common concerns include communication problems, infidelity, intimacy difficulties, and navigating major life transitions such as marriage, parenthood, or caregiving. Family therapists may also address parent–child conflict, sibling rivalry, or other complex family dynamics.

What are the different types of therapy for relationship issues?
Relationship issues can be addressed through different types of therapy depending on whether you’re seeking help as an individual, couple, or family. In individual therapy, the focus is often on helping an individual understand how their own patterns, attachment style, and past experiences may be shaping their current relationships. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) are three common forms of individual treatment that can help individuals understand their current relationship dynamics and improve their relationship quality. Couples therapy often uses other forms of evidence-based treatment, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or the Gottman Method. Rather than focusing on the individual, these approaches focus on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional bonds between individuals in a relationship. Similarly, family therapy often focuses on communication but also examines how larger-scale dynamics—such as how parenting styles, generational differences, or sibling roles—may shape family relationships.

What actually happens in a therapy session for relationship issues?
The structure of a session depends on whether therapy involves one person or multiple people. In individual sessions, the focus may be on exploring personal patterns, role-playing difficult conversations, practicing listening skills, or setting goals for handling conflict. In couples or family sessions, each person is encouraged to share their perspective while the therapist helps uncover underlying emotions, highlight unhelpful interaction patterns, and guide more constructive communication.

How can I find an effective relationship therapist?
Finding a therapist who is a good fit for your needs, either for individual, couples, or family therapy, is critical to ensure effective therapy. Psychology Today’s online directory makes it easy to search for therapists who specialise in relationship issues, as well as related topics like marriage counselling. The platform offers filters to help you find a provider who fits your needs, such as gender, location, and fees. While the Psychology Today directory also offers the ability to filter by insurance type, it’s important to note that insurance may not cover many types of relationship therapy, such as couples counselling, so it’s important to inquire with your insurance plan about specific coverage details if intending to use insurance for therapy.
