I work especially in the treatment of anxiety disorders ( OCD, social phobia, and panic attacks), chronic depression, and complex PTSD.
I am a psychodynamic and behavioural therapist. This means that I work to create and hold a space for thinking and feeling through experiences, difficulties, contradictions, losses, and hopes; while drawing on behavioral change interventions for facilitating change.

Life presents all of us with complex challenges which are sometimes difficult to manage. E.g. what may be troubling is a recent interpersonal difficulty, or perhaps something unpleasant has happened or is still happening in your workplace (or school/college/university). You may have lost someone you were close to, or perhaps you were the victim of a crime. Alternatively, what may be troubling may be of a more long-standing nature, causing unresolved unhappiness. Or you may feel that life could be more fulfilling than it has been up to now, that it could be a happier, richer experience, with a sense of more well-being and freedom.

You may feel like you've done everything you're supposed to do; read the books, learned the coping skills, understood your patterns, yet still find yourself caught in anxiety, trauma, addiction, or relationship difficulties. The question that interests me most isn't "What's wrong with you?" but "What happened, and how is it still shaping your life today?" Together, we'll make sense of those patterns, understand where they came from, and work toward resolving them at their roots so that meaningful, lasting change becomes possible.

The wound is the place where the light enters you. - Rumi. Through dealing with my own wounds, I have realized that psychology gives me perspective. I do not take for granted, the priviledge of being part of a very personal process with my clients. I hope to create conditions in which my clients can empower themselves. During 2021 I had my radio, online, and TV debut. Mental health awareness and health promotion is very important to me. Psychology is not only what I do, it forms a profound part of who I am.

I work in a structured, practical way rather than an open-ended one. We start by getting clear on what is actually keeping you stuck, the thinking patterns, the habits, the avoidance loops, and then we build tools you can use between sessions. My approach draws on cognitive behavioural principles, so sessions are collaborative and goal-focused: you leave with something to try, not just something to think about. A first conversation is simply a chance to talk through what has been going on and see whether working together feels like a good fit, with no pressure to commit to anything beyond that.

The decision to seek therapy is rarely made lightly, and I recognise the courage it takes to reach this point. You do not need to have all the answers before you begin. Often, reaching out simply reflects a sense that something in your life, your relationships, or within yourself needs to change - or that you are longing for something different. I offer psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and couples through an integrative approach characterised by thoughtful curiosity, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, supporting self-understanding, improved wellbeing, and lasting change.

You may be self-aware, capable, and have spent years trying to understand yourself, yet still feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in the same patterns. I work with women over 40 who sense there is more to them than the roles, expectations, pain, and stories they have carried. Together, we explore what lies beneath these patterns, so you can remember who you are beneath the conditioning, pain, and stories that caused you to forget and begin your return to yourself.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
