I support clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and overwhelming life transitions — including those who feel disconnected, stuck, or unsure why they’re struggling. Using EMDR and BWRT, I work with distressing memories, anxiety, phobias, binge eating, self-sabotaging thoughts and unwanted habits, drawing on neuroscience-informed approaches to support lasting change. Schema Therapy offers deeper exploration of underlying patterns, strengthening self-awareness, insight, and personal growth. I work with men and women, including adolescents experiencing exam stress and pressure, as well as individuals facing divorce.

The foundation of my practice lies in a psychodynamic approach, which allows for an awareness and understanding of the dynamics that contribute to the issue at hand.
Life can be challenging and we may feel lost, overwhelmed or a myriad of other emotions that we do not always understand. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space in which to understand and find ways of understanding and overcoming these challenges. Our lives are unique, and as such the focus of therapy I provide is aligned to your particular needs, whether it is to manage a crisis within yourself, or to better understand and function in relationships with others. I work with teenagers age 15 and up, and adults.

The decision to seek therapy is rarely made lightly, and I recognise the courage it takes to reach this point. You do not need to have all the answers before you begin. Often, reaching out simply reflects a sense that something in your life, your relationships, or within yourself needs to change - or that you are longing for something different. I offer psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and couples through an integrative approach characterised by thoughtful curiosity, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, supporting self-understanding, improved wellbeing, and lasting change.

I offer psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adolescents and adults.
The thought of starting therapy can be a scaring one. We often wonder about suitability and ask ourselves will the therapist and I get along, will he understand me, or will he judge me? All these are relevant and real questions that are born when looking for a therapist to connect with. I strongly believe that the relationship between a therapist and client is a very vulnerable and sacred kind of relationship, where the two travel together to explore and access vulnerable parts of the client.

I primarily use psychodynamic psychotherapy, to help patients address underlying causes of their problems by exploring unconscious feelings, thoughts, and behaviours, often rooted in early life experiences, to build insight into how present relationships and patterns of behaviour are influenced by the past, and to promote healing.
Feeling stuck, helpless or overwhelmed? As a Clinical Psychologist, I offer a warm, non-judgmental, and safe space to explore challenges, bolster coping, and promote healing. Together, we'll navigate anxiety, depression, past traumas, relationship difficulties, grief, and life's obstacles. My approach is holistic and tailored to your unique needs - providing a compassionate environment to process pain, gain alternative perspectives, and acquire tools and resources for coping and thriving. Let's work together to build resilience, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and optimise your potential.

My approach to psychotherapy: an integration of the main approaches of modern psychotherapy: psychodynamic, existential/humanistic, stoic philosophy (from which CBT originates).
Life presents all of us with complex challenges which are sometimes difficult to manage. E.g. what may be troubling is a recent interpersonal difficulty, or perhaps something unpleasant has happened or is still happening in your workplace (or school/college/university). You may have lost someone you were close to, or perhaps you were the victim of a crime. Alternatively, what may be troubling may be of a more long-standing nature, causing unresolved unhappiness. Or you may feel that life could be more fulfilling than it has been up to now, that it could be a happier, richer experience, with a sense of more well-being and freedom.

I help people who are stuck, in their heads or in undigested emotions, or in difficult life circumstances, relationships and families. I teach that the only person you can change is yourself, but when you do, the ripple effect is massive. Be the change you want to see, never mind what trauma has led to your anxiety, depression etc. We're all addicts: we all have devoted habits or coping mechanisms. After a while these harm us. Find another way. I use a Transpersonal approach because it's v effective. This means I remind you you are connected to something greater than yourself, however you define that - and how to employ that daily.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
