If you are feeling unable to cope, or are struggling to break out of old habits or self-defeating patterns, you don't have to navigate the journey to well-being alone. Together, we can find and integrate the tools you need to reconnect with a valued life, and to build a healthier, more compassionate relationship with yourself. I am well equipped to help individuals with a variety of conditions including mood disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, and the autism spectrum; however, you do not need a diagnosis to need support. We all get stuck in unhelpful ways of thinking and doing; it's part of being human.

Feeling anxious and unsure what the next step is? Finding it difficult to relate to your partner? Are your kids acting up? Is your mother in law overly toxic? want to start but just can't! struggling to stay motivated?

One of the main wellsprings of therapy is love. People arrive with spilling pockets and framed seams from various forms of love gone wrong, each with their own story: of love that has nowhere to go; a love lost or denied, twisted or betrayed, perverted and shackled to violence. These broken attachments are what I work with. Having studied the science, history, philosophy and art of therapy for 10 years, I know that when people get enough exposure to kindness, sanity, and care, we can empty those pockets and knit seams together.

People come to see me for many reasons: They may find themselves feeling confused or overwhelmed and longing to find clarity about a particular issue. They may have achieved a great deal in their lives but are still feeling that something vital is missing. They may have lost their passion and purpose – their mojo – and yearn to find it again. They may want to discover how to tap into their deepest wisdom so that they can find the best way forward in their lives. Some are motivated to find a way of liberating their creativity. And many others long to discover or deepen their spiritual lives.

Start to Stop
I have a passion for working with clients, providing them with tools to navigate the challenges and pitfalls of early recovery. Support is also provided to families to deal with the impact of addiction and learning how to support their love one's in recovery.

As a registered wellness counsellor, my goal is to help clients navigate their way to climbing and conquering the mountain that they face. We often feel alone and like nobody understands us and what we are going through, but my aim is to offer you a space to be heard, to be vulnerable and to encourage you to take the first step toward having autonomy over your own life.

What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
