Each of us experience emotional difficulties or life challenges from time to time. When we are disconnected from who we are and our purpose in life, it can significantly affect many areas of our lives. Therapy can help towards understanding ourselves, to allow us to make the necessary changes and to live a more meaningful life.

My ideal client is someone who feels emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of anxiety, sadness, or self-doubt, and is longing for relief, clarity, and meaningful change. They may be navigating a life transition, healing from trauma, or struggling in their relationships. What they truly want is to understand themselves better, find healthy ways to cope, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and peace. They are seeking a space where they feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment. My role is to walk alongside them—helping them explore their inner world, build resilience, and move toward the life they envision for themselves.

My belief is that every person is strong, resilient, and can make meaning out of their circumstances. However, we all need support and guidance along the way. I value accompanying my clients on their journeys by building genuine and trusting relationships that foster growth, self-exploration, and healing. “Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them, and through that struggle develop new aspects of their skills, capacities, and views about life” – Carl Rogers.

Rational Emotive Behaviour (REBT) Counsellors
What should I expect from rational emotive behaviour therapy?
The therapist will work with the individual to recognise rigid thought patterns that sabotage goals and set them back. The objective is to identify, challenge and reframe negative thoughts and enable an individual to understand that they possess control over their emotions and their behaviour. This therapy often emphasises the use of reasoning and self-direction.

Is rational emotive behaviour therapy effective?
Rational emotive behaviour therapy is evidence-based and is highly effective. It helps a person reframe self-defeating or catastrophising thoughts thoughts and gives them tools to approach a range of circumstances they may encounter post-therapy as well. REBT can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.

When do I know if I need treatment with rational emotive behaviour therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with rigid, unreasonable thoughts that dwell in negativity, they may feel stuck. A rational emotive behaviour therapist can help a person examine and change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour. This concise and concrete therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

How long does rational emotive behaviour therapy last?
REBT therapy treatment is short-term and focused in nature. It can last for a set number of sessions, ending within a few weeks or months. Like any type of therapy, however, sessions depend on the individual, as well as the severity of their condition or problem. The individual may wish to ask the therapist about typical progress and how long they expect treatment to take.
