If you are suffering emotionally, whether from depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self esteem, addictive patterns, or any other psychological struggle, I will support your therapeutic journey with unconditional positive regard and expertise.
I work with individuals (adolescents and adults), couples and families who need psychological assistance and/or relationship tools. I am a compassionate psychotherapist, with an additional certification as an Imago Relationship Therapist. I am also qualified to run Imago "Getting The Love you Want" workshops for couples. I do not believe that labelling a client as a "problem" is helpful; rather, the therapeutic process with me is about creating self-awareness, and working together to find creative solutions to the challenges that are facing each person that walks through my door. I encourage personal growth in all my clients.

I work with clients who may be struggling with trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, chronic illnesses, pain, grief, loss, and much more.
I work with clients who have been carrying the weight of their struggles for far too long. They are individuals who have experienced trauma, loss, grief, chronic pain and illnesses, affecting their daily lives in ways they may not fully understand. Many have self-esteem and confidence issues, often feeling unworthy, unseen, or disconnected from their true selves. Some battle chronic pain or illnesses, struggling to find relief beyond medical treatments, and they seek a deeper, more holistic approach to healing.

Are you struggling with issues related to trauma, grief, addiction, anxiety, or major life changes?
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to the world of psychology which has now evolved into a full-on passion. As a registered counselling psychologist, I am committed to the well-being of all my clients and together we work towards developing you. I truly care for all of my clients and work diligently to help find them the answers they seek within themselves. I believe in patients being stuck in their lives but that they still hold all the answers and so my job is to elicit those solutions when they can't see them.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
