The thought of starting therapy can be a scaring one. We often wonder about suitability and ask ourselves will the therapist and I get along, will he understand me, or will he judge me? All these are relevant and real questions that are born when looking for a therapist to connect with. I strongly believe that the relationship between a therapist and client is a very vulnerable and sacred kind of relationship, where the two travel together to explore and access vulnerable parts of the client.
I am a clinical psychologist practicing in Parklands, Cape Town. I offer psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. Although I integrate other approaches best suitable for the client’s needs, such as DBT, schema therapy, and attachments approaches.
In therapy, the aim is to create a space comfortable and safe enough for clients to address areas in their lives that they experience as overwhelming and avoided for many years, and to facilitate a journey of emotional insight and self-awareness.
